I think I labeled Part 4, Part 3 so I had 2 Part 3s on my last trip report many weeks ago.

It's Monday July 3rd -
Woke up early again but you know what, I can't help it. I'm sensing a small amount of aggravation from the hubby but I ignore it. My mornings are too early for him but he doesn't have to make his own coffee b/c I'm up to make it. I run to the store, yet again b/c we are out of English Muffins, eggs and butter. How did we go through a pound of butter? We're only eating breakfast here . . . .

Back with the breakfast goodies. Hubby makes breakfast. We need everyone to fill up, we have a long day of shopping ahead of us.

YA'LL DO SEEM TO EAT A LOT.

Please . . . I expended a lot of energy on this trip and needed to keep the calories up for all the adventures!

Onto to shopping, I neglect to say anything about the 3 ships in port. Was it 3? I don't know, town looks like there is 7 ships in!

Vendor's Plaza for knock off purses, watch some hair braiding being done. And I want to go to the jewelry store. Cardow lets you trade in what you bought there on new stuff. I'm looking, looking, looking . . . . an actual first for me, I couldn't find a thing to catch my eye. . . .

WHAT??? YOU COULDN'T FIND ONE THING?

Well, maybe one or two things but thoughts of construction costs , concrete shortages and general delays were running through my head as I eye the diamonds. I just couldn't do it. However, the girls decided we were going to coupon shop. You know the ones, those coupons they put in all the books, free this with $10 purchase, this for $20, this for $5, etc. . . . I have never done this but we had so much fun, just looking for each shop first, then asking for our free stuff and then getting sucked into buying something else. Lots of fun. I ended up only buying a silver starfish for $30 and one $5 charm which I will never use. . . The starfish is on my necklace now though. And I did stop at the coach store for a new purse (I was carrying my waterproof case around my neck as my purse). Hey, no taxes and on sale for 40% off.

Boys had pretty much had it with the crowds (and with the shopping) after about an hour and hit Coconuts for Bushwhackers. They'd go with us to 1 store, then to Coconuts while we were at 2 other stores. . .

While shopping, I asked a few of the local girls about J'ouevert (sp?) - I had prepped everyone for a 3:00 am ferry ride to St. John for tomorrow. They all assurred me about the ferries running all night. Additionally, I was given a LOT of warnings about certain groups to stay away from and not to follow b/c they are known for drugs and such. A few were going, a few were staying away and waiting to go over for the parade. . . . Hmmm, I thinking we may be too old for this 😀

YOU'RE ONLY AS OLD AS YOU FEEL!

Oh be quiet, I don't feel old but I also don't want to miss the regular parade at 11:00 (b/c my "old butt" can't stay up past 10). I'm still thinking about it though.

Shopping over and had to walk back to the parking lot over by the Court. Back to Vendor's Plaza and buy some more stuff. An older couple off of the ship decided to give one of us a warning on the dangers of smoking as we were walking back to the car. . . . My husband who, by the way, talks to EVERYONE decided to stop and chat. It literally came out of the old guy's mouth , I swear (scouts honor sign) "WHAT? What do you mean you're not on the ship, HOW DID YOU GET HERE?" I guess you had to be there, b/c it was funny then, hubby and I looked at each other and cracked up. . .

Next stop, INDIGO.
I make my way up the mountain, down the other side and then kinda forgot to turn on 42 - - Went up past Udder Delight and saw a local walking towards the apartments. I ask " Good afternoon, can you please point me in the right direction for Indigo?" She smiles and tells me, she can't help me but if "you go down to de man in de boot, he will help". I tell her thank you and head down to Magens Bay. I finally get up to the booths and ask and am told that it is the 4th Left. Thanks. . . but wait, B, in the backseat behind asked her "will there be a man in de boot there?" I turn around and yell at him to quit making fun of people's accents. After all he's from Louisiana, how do you think his accent sounds?? Of course, there's a huge discussion going on between them all about a boot and why would there be a man in a boot. . . . I'm puzzled, we just passed through the booth, of course they have men in booths at certain places. . . . Mind you, we were calling B - Bushwacked B by this time due to the many stops at Coconuts while shopping. I park, we all get out, they ask where the man in the boot was? I told them right back there at the beach, the one that we asked directions at, it just happened to be a woman in a booth. . . they start babbling about cowboy boots, fireman's boots . . . . I turn around and I look at all of them and say - - - "A man in a boot, IS A MAN IN A BOOTH!" Ohhhhhhhhh. they were quiet for a few minutes after that.

DON'T THEY HAVE SOME TOURIST PLACE ON ROUTE 66 WITH A MAN IN A BOOT? DIDN'T THE OLD WOMAN LIVE IN A SHOE?

Indigo, the food was great, fantastic, amazing and perfect. I cannot describe it any better than that. They are doing a great job up there (in the restaurant) and I would highly recommend it. Tuna, sandwiches, salads, crab cakes, all yummy.

Dropped the boys off at the condo after that b/c the bushwackers are really kicking in and they need a nap and I need to get in the water. Girls are off to Sapphire Beach for snorkeling. Lots of fish, coral was in really bad shape but lots of fish. I'm out there and I hear a bunch of giggles way back there, it's V and L.A., they want their snorkel vests that we used yesterday. They can't seem to snorkel without them. . . . After some complaining and more laughing and water going in snorkels and coughing they catch up.

Beach was was deserted since the restaurants were closed and very few people on the beach. I don't know if the restaurant closures have to do with any of the water activities but they were not open either(maybe it was too late in the day).
Be careful at Sapphire, we snorkeled both sides of the beach and I was relaxing in the water on the right side (facing the water) and swimming on my back close to shore, there are some rocks that are close in, I ran right into one, that may be due to me being a clutz but have generally shown only grace in the water but can trip over my own feet on land.

HOW BIG ARE YOUR FEET?

Believe me, my feet are small, I am just a clutz, I'm one of those people that walk into columns in the middle of a restaurant that everyone points their fingers at while they're rolling on the floor. 😀

Back to the condo, gee, I'm hungry again . . . L.A. and I head to Caribbean Saloon for To Go food since the boys are hungry too. We order our food and a drink and another drink and maybe just one more. In the meantime, the food on the table next to us came quickly and I happened to look over rather longingly at the mashed potatoes and steak this gentleman was having (I was hungry) and he looked at me and said "Quit pie-eyeing my food!" First of all, I apologized, gosh, gee, I'm sorry, I didn't mean to stare and certainly didn't realize my eyes were popping out of my head as I gazed upon all that food. 😛 I don't think I was drooling. . . Anyways, we had a good laugh, and the food there was pretty decent. (did we already eat there once on this trip?)

Sorry so long, hope it's not too boring but can't imagine not describing the experience.

Next up STJ and Carnivale!

your report is not too long, nor boring! enjoying it thoroughly!

About Caribbean Saloon - I checked out their website awhile back and it looked like a pretty cool place but no one seems to mention it on this forum. I just wondered if their food was any good, atmosphere etc. What'd ya think?

CUrchin,

You made tears roll down my face from hilarious laughter about the man in da boot! Did your crew seriously go searching for a man in a boot? LOL Too funny!!!

Where did you buy your Coach bag? 40% off??? I didn't know they did that! Wooohooo! WHERE?

Very entertaining report. I am curious about why you think the STJ parade starts at 11pm (??). Isn't it more like noon? Or, noon + island time delays? Maybe you'll explain in your next part.

Please hurry and get the next one out!! This is great. You're done with the bar, right? Hope it went well!!!

Lora - Caribbean Saloon was fine. I will say that everyone but one of us enjoyed their food (hamburgers, italian sausage sandwiches and something else). The Philly Cheesesteak was not good by V's standards. We ended up eating there twice b/c it was easy to get to and air-conditioned. Some days are so hot you need a little air. While we were there, Soccer was on so everyone was enthralled with the games. There really is no atmosphere to talk about.

Bluwater - Coach bags at the Coach store downtown. They have a shelf with 40% off items. There was about 6-7 purses and a all of their wallets for 40% off. The rest of the store has normal Coach prices. But, remember no tax. Done with the bar - I won't receive results for a couple of months but I can kinda tell that I failed already and will be retaking it in February.

C,

Sorry about how you feel about your bar exam. Things have a way of surprising us : you think you've done well and you fail - you ting you've failed and you've really done well. Best of luck - chin up - and thanks for the Coach tips. I wondered if this was Little Switzerland's Coach shop or some Coacho nly shop that I hadn't noticed before.

Thanks!

Bluwater - it is the Little Switzerland Coach store. Thanks for the pep talk. I can't really get too upset about it at least not until I get the results. Of course, I will let everyone know then. No shame here. 😀
