Sunday we went to Magen’s Bay beach. Truthfully, we had not done this beach together ever (what??? One of the top 10 beaches and never been?).
Well, I had gone many times 20+ years ago and had never been interested to go again because I had always scheduled every day with so many activities, I thought laying on the beach was just not enough activity for me or any newbies that I had brought over the years.

We get there, the girl in ‘de boot’ asks if we are visitors. I say yes. I guess I could have said local because of the property but I don’t live there. So, $10.00 to get in. No big deal, they have bathrooms, showers, changing rooms, trash cans, a bar, a snack bar, rental chairs and lounges along with floats are available to rent along with a great little store to buy T-shirts, bathing suits, cover-ups, and souvenirs.

Let me just say, it was one of the most relaxing days I have had. We brought our own floats (the ones that you blow up around the edges and then they are supposed to magically fold up into a circle and go back into the package when you are done). The floats provided us with several hours of relaxing in the water.

We went and ordered pizza at the Snack Bar when hungry (a whole pizza for 2 of us); sat at the bar, talked to others. Met Brian the chef at Bella Blu and a few other people. Hmmm, menu at Bella Blu sounds yummy, we will have to make it to Bella Blu.

After having the most relaxing day, we head back to the Condo to clean up and put our leftover pizza in the fridge. Our friend arrives today with her 4-year-old and a nanny in tow. They are staying at the Wyndham. We run over there, pick them up and they want to eat somewhere quick and close as they are exhausted. We head to the Caribbean Saloon to fill them up for the night. Made plans to go back to Magens tomorrow. That relaxing is kinda addictive.

On Monday, back to Magens and another relaxing day (it is very addicting) and then a quick run into town late in the afternoon with my friend so she can purchase a camera she’s had her eye on. The Olympus that is shock and water proof. We go to Havensight because of all of the traffic and it’s about the time the store closes. She gets the camera, with a free memory card and a case from Boolchands (sp?). We stopped at the old Sopchoppy’s (Island Time Pub?) for a pizza for dinner. It was very good. Pizza and hamburgers, I really need to get out of that rut.

We make plans for all of us to go to Waterlemon tomorrow on St. John - me making it clear we need to take an early car ferry but not so early as we take up space needed for the workers that have to go over every day.

Real good reading. Nice of you to take the time to reflect back and give others a view of your stay there.

For some reason the individual photo's didn't open at my end. The group of photos did. You have some great shots there -- I wish I knew the locations of some of them.

Keep writing if it's not too much for you. I like reading what you've written thus far.

Lojeep: did you click to the right hand source? CUrchin mentioned the discrepancy in a previous report. I have no problem viewing the photos if I click on, for instance, the "1H" series rather than the " picasaweb.google.com] src" link.

CUrchin is not alone in being a computer dip where such things are concerned but it worked for me!!!!! Cheers!

C Urchin for a treat stop at the shaved ice stand across from Havensight by the Hooters. My wife and stopped there one day on the way back from Megan's. A greta way to cool off and they were soo cheap!

We absolutely love Megan's Bay and went twice last trip. The first time 3 ships were in that day and it was packed. We got free entertainment as the girls sitting near us were "off the ship" and 2 of them were trashed beyond recognition. One girl was so bad she kept falling down and had face full of sand. She went in the water to wash off and couldn't even make up the little rise at the waterlevel between the water and beach without falling over again and needing a freinds help. Gotta love tourists 😀

The second time there were no ships in and the places was quiet and peaceful. One of our best beach days as we hung out, slept, read and enjoyed our day.

Magens is now my favorite beach. While it does get crowded with locals and cruise ship traffic, it is by far one of the most relaxing beaches to us even with the crowds.

Our last time there was later in the week and were invited and welcome into a local church group's celebration. They shared their food and drink with us as if we were part of the family. We had goat water soup (which was yummy to Hubby, not so much to me) and several other local foods along with dipping into their coolers of beer.

Lojeep, I will reveal the other places in my pics in my future trip reports (after all, I can only relax for so long). I will try to figure out how to post so everyone can see. If you click on the right side of the internet string, it should bring you the pic of the day.

laser110- We stop at Udder Delight for our after Magens "drink". It is made with the type of ice cream you like and then you have a choice of rum or no rum. My favorite on the entire island. I haven't tried the shaved ice place across from Havensight. Truthfully, I try to stay away from town as much as possible.

C Urchin 😀

Yes, the Magens family probably rolls over in their graves every time it's misspelled. Not an easy name to remember, as well as the temptation to put the apostrophe. Did you know they owned Hassel Island at one time as well, and were murdered over there?

CUrchin, Brian really told you he was the chef? What a modest liar. He now owns Bella Blu. The food is great for real, even when he does jump in and help in the kitchen. His forte is wine. You would probably find me there, seated at the bar ,in front of the wine rack, in the back of the restaurant, practically any night during the week! Stop by.

C Urchin- what would a day at Megens be without a stop at Udder Delight? I have been going there for years and told my wife about it. The times we there prior we were ona cruise and the taxi wouldn't stop for us there. This time we had a car, so stopping was no problem. She said it lived up to everything I told her, after her first stop there. My favorite flavors are the Banana and Coconut.

I agree with you, we try and stay away from town too, but Havensight is on the way back to the hotel/ time share and we just had to stop 🙂

Ron and STT Resident-Sorry for the misspellings 🙂 As you can see I was typing after midnight. I spent the day painting the house and was exhausted, but wanted to reply. I hit send and went right to bed.

Scott, edit one more time as you still got it wrong! LOL

EE. Had you come to the report from the two Danish students that were here in May, you would have learned more than your history books! It was advertised in the news and on radio.

C Urchin have you tried Picaso's Coffee Bar?

They are located right down the road from Point Pleasant resort. In the morning the hotel has a free shuttle service until 11am that will take you Picaso's.

They have great smoothies and shakes! And you can add rum, or even Godiva or Baileys flavors to them.

They are open from 6:30am until 10:30pm.
