Just wanted to say thank you to all that post here, I read some valuable information that made our trip from 12/26 -1/2 a great experience... this being said with having visited before with no real knowledge like what I found here. Just want to add my two cents worth for those in the same boat;

Definites:

Rented a car and saved so much money not using taxis... used taxis only when knowing that we were going to be consuming adult beverages

Did the sail on the Nightwind... how much fun! My favorite day of our week there... great conversation, lunch, and snorkeling (and have a Habiscus.... champagne and cranberry juice, yum).

Spent a day at Meghan's Bay... by far the prettiest beach I have ever been to and I have traveled a lot... very calm and flat, my 4 year old comfortable getting close to the water, which he is terrified of.. would advise getting there early to get good spot on beach, and packing a lunch to save on food.

Food: went to 3 different stores (including the 2 in Redhook) throughout the week and by chance made a 3rd stop at Plaza Extra, not even sure where it was but there were MUCH better prices and selections on just about everything that I saw. Definitely recommend so many of the ideas I found on here about bringing what you can... I packed one suitcase full of dry goods which were all used and used that same bags for the overflow accumlated... was also sure to pack sports water bottles that I love to mix drinks in for the beach, can koosies, soft sided cooler, and freezer packs that made life easier.

Dining out: Molly Mallones for reubens (yum), Carribean Saloon for appetizers (great prices, and will return should I ever return), Iggies for all-u-can eat Crablegs (Saturday night, but also saw sign that said Tuesdays) for only 29.00 adults, 10.00 kids. My favorite of the week.

Update on Saphire Beach Resort for those interested... nothing is open and no venders as talked about in earlier postings. a real disappointment. We were actually suppose to be staying at a unit there and the owner was having renovations that were to be done that were delayed that put us staying next door at Crystal Cove for part of the week.. when we were suppose to move it was found that the contracter had left without completing the work and place was uninhabitable. I was disappointed because the outside of the resort and pool area looked very inviting during my runs I took through the grounds. Grapevine Grill is just up the hill and had many Bushwachers there to compensate for it.

Again, thanks to all who helped make this a great trip... sorry to ramble but hope someone finds the information useful!

Glad you enjoyed your trip. How was your unit at Crystal Cove? I love the beach at Sapphire.

RE: Crystal Cove... Had 2 different units, a one bedroom with 2 twin murphy beds... was a beautiful, clean, and well kept unit, with the owner providing lots of extras; itch cream, bandaids, etc (items that might not think of)... in the C building... moved after 4 days to a studio in the D building... a huge disappointment compared to where we were at... no extras,not even blankets, only clean on the surface, with only trash bags and a little dish soap left. Of course spent very little actual time in the condo, but makes me aware of what I would want to do should I ever invest in such a thing.

The beach at Saphire is very nice, and liked being able to walk to the marina to see the boats, etc. Others in our complex has also bought fresh seafood from the marina, but never took the time to explore that.
