We are leaving for STJ in three weeks. Have been trying in vain to rent a jeep or something similar that can take the roads. I guess its because of carnival. Can anyone suggest anything .? the place we are staying suggests Coutesy Car Rental { in STJ} Do you think we will be able to rent anything when we actually get there. We are planning to take a ferry ride over to STT on Wed.April 23 and Sat April 26. I dont think we will be able to afford a rental car for 10 days AND a boat trip to BVI. Any input would be great especially from someone who lives on either island. Thanks! am excited about our trip.

I would try the airport rental agencies and take the car barge. Dependable (www.dependablecar.com) and Discount (www.discountcar.vi) are cheaper because they are a short distance from the airport and will pick you at the airport. Budget and Thrifty also allow you to take rental cars. Make certain that you get a confirmation number.

Have you tried your villa rental agency? They may be able to hook you up.

Good luck. We book 6-9 months in advance.

Cheers, RickG

You really need to rent in advance - and call now and I would take anything they have left.

Taxi's charge per person not per trip so they add up very quickly (ie: it would be $48.00 from Cruz Bay to Trunk roundtrip for 4 people) and if you want to go to 2 different beaches per day or 1 beach then out to dinner think $$$$$ Also if you are renting a villa, alot of taxi's will not pick up/drop off at villas because of the roads.

Good luck and let me know if you need a list of the car rental agencies on STJ.

Did you try hotwire? I find them to be cheapest. They always rent to me through Avis. www.hotwire.com

Can anybody tell me if Avis is "inside" the airport or not.

Try giving Roosevelt a call on Monday
Sunday is not a big business day
His place is in Cruz Bay up the hill passed St Ursala Church

Good Guy - Smaller operation but he has always been good to us

no website and the area code is 340
Local call on AT&T phones

Good Luck
