My wife and I are going to Trunk Bay. We would like to snorkel together. Does the facilities have lockers or a place to store valuables (camera) while we are snorkeling?

According to the web site http://stjohnbeachguide.com/Trunk%20Bay.htm

Trunk Bay
Facilities
Showers, bathrooms and changing areas are available between 7:30 A.M. and 4:30 P.M.
Also available are public telephones, picnic tables, barbeque grills and a covered pavilion. (To reserve the covered pavilion for a private event, call the National Park at 776-6201.)

A gift shop provides just about everything you might need while at the beach, such as sun screen, towels, insect repellent, hats, tee-shirts, bathing suits, film, batteries, books, post cards and souvenirs. Lockers, snorkel equipment, floatation devices and beach chairs are available for rent. The gift shop is open from 9:00 A.M. to 3:30 P.M. Rental equipment must be returned by 3:00 P.M.

If you're a totally novice snorkeler then Trunk Bay is a logical choice but there are FAR better snorkeling options on STJ. That said, worry not too much about locker facilities. There are countless waterproof dive bags available online and locally at dive shops here which come in all different shapes and sizes and can accommodate camera, credit cards, cash, etc. Cheers!

Advice for transportation:
From Havensite Taxi to Red Hook -ferry to STJ -- Taxi to Trunk
from Crown Bay - same
Unless you can get the stj to Charlotte Amalie ferry in Cruz Bay the return is the same.

Was there just last week. I think Trunk Bay is the most beautiful beach, but as for snorkeling at the little cay in front it is just ok.
I would recommend snorkeling along the rocks on the right side of the beach, go as far as your your experience allows you. If you are a strong swimmer, try to go around the tip of the rocks, it will take you through a massive reef with everything you can imagine seeing, you will end up at Peter Bay which is private but it is legal as long as you stay on the beach.
It might not apply to you, but I would also recommend to get there very early, may be before 9AM. Parking is limited, you will have to sit in your car to wait for someone to leave. Besides, if you are on the beach early, you will have less people "sharing" in your family pics.

Have fun.
