We just got to STT yesterday (from the figid north!) and have discovered our villa hot tub is on the blink. We were very much looking forward to some hot tub relaxation. Does anyone know if any of the resorts let you pay for the use of their facilities ... a day pass type of thing??

Thanks for your help.....

Hello pmtravels,

The only resort on St. Thomas that I know of that offers a day pass type deal is Bolongo Bay Resort. It includes the pool, some water sports and other things. You can give them a call for details. At all the other resorts non-guests can go to the beach, buy food/drink, in most cases rent water sports gear and some allow non-guests to rent chairs. The pool, hot tub and other similar amenities however are for guests.

Have you contacted the villa rep to see if they can get someone in there to fix your hot tub asap?

Enjoy your trip!

Oh pmtravels, I sincerely hope that a malfunctioning hot tub is not going to spoil your holiday? Pray tell that you were NOT going to spend your whole time here on STT wallowing in a hot tub? AAAAK!

Seriously and come on now, the beaches are gorgeous, there's a multitude to choose from between STT and STJ and it would be a total loony who would opt for days in a hot tub in a villa with a view over what's right here au naturel pretty much on your doorstep!

Hope by now you've started to thaw out, have contacted the villa management people about the hot tub problem for a fix but have also decided to enjoy what we offer which is well outside hot tubs! Cheers!

You are in one of the most beautiful places in the world. Other than a romantic moment, or tow or three, spend your time in the beautiful water, enjoy the people and the weather.

Forget about the those physical things and enjoy the beauty.

Hello,

Just wanted to send a follow-up "post vacation" note. Islander - thanks for the the info on Bolongo Bay. We didn't go pursue the resort facilities after all. We had a great time relaxing on our deck and sightseeing. Some positives and negatives we experienced:

We enjoyed ......

Blue Moon Cafe - Perfect place for a sunset dinner. The best dinner all week.
Sunset Sail with Captain Dave & Larissa, "Oh to be joyful sailing" - Perfect sunset sailing - sweet!
Drive to the West Side of St Thomas - A very peaceful, pleasant experience. We wished we would have taken a picnic!
St John Beaches and Hikes - Don't miss this. Take the time to enjoy St John and it's all beautiful.
Taco Fiesta - Downtown Charlotte Amalie, sat outside, very relaxing and great food.
Skinny Legs/St John - Fun place to people watch and enjoy a drink or lunch.
Ainsley's beach side cafe (Elysian Beach Resort) - Enjoyable, quiet, beach side lunch/drinks

We will do something different next time......

Mafolie Restaurant - The view was great... but food wasn't. Very expensive for the quality.
Shopping downtown - The jewelry store people are obnoxious. It's impossible to walk around. We were stopped every 20 feet or so and nagged to go into a store. Skip it unless you really want to buy jewels.
Top of the Mountain - The view here was good, but felt like our time would have been better spent on the beach.
Molly Malones - It was really busy when we went ....terrible service and they ran out of food.

Another tip for people using the car barge, if you have even a little problem with motion sickness... do not stay in your car where you can't see out around you. Get out and go up on top. I made that mistake going over to St John and needless to say didn't make it again coming back!

And.... I did miss the hot tub. They tried to fix it but it needed a new part and so we were pretty much out of luck. We looked specifically for a rental with a hot tub so it was disappointing, but we had a great time anyway!

Everyone here celebrated yesterday as the temps got to 50 degrees ... the grills were going and everyone was in t-shirts. If they only knew..... 😎

pmtravels,

Thanks for the follow-up report - very informatiive - and looks like you made the best of your trip even through the disappointment of the broken hot tub.

We'll be hitting Skinny Legs for the first time thi strip - although we've been to STJ 4 times - just never got to the Coral Bay side of the island. We're really anxious to get there and your endorsement gets me even more excited.

Thanks!

Thanks for the follow up, pmtravels. I'm glad you were able to still have an enjoyable vacation in spite of the disappointment with your malfunctioning hot tub.

Are the barkers back? I though the barkers were banned. This report makes it seem as though they are back barking.

Gerie,

Yes -- the barkers must be back. I ran into at least 10 men that said if you go into their store and mention a name you will get something free. My husband had gone back to the car briefly and I have to say I was even a bit frightened by how aggressive some of these men were. One guy literally pulled me by the arm into his store saying he wanted to show me a worker that looked like George Clooney. We left after that stunt! I hope they are banned again!
