Another post indicated that non-guests could use the Westin beach and the beach activities, but NOT the beach chairs. Would we be able to bring along our own beach chairs and umbrellas?

No..you would actually look a bit out of place!
You CAN use their chairs...they do not ask for a key or proof that you are staying there.
We've done this in the past. You would however have to bring your own beach towels.
You may also use the services offered (watersports, restaurants, bars, water trampoline) but perhaps not the toys you get from the pool area.

Enjoy!

As a villa owner I have no problem with non-guests using the beach but wonder why you would. The beach at the Westin is awful, probably IMO the worst beach on the island. But feel free. I also agree with the above post, do not bring your own chairs and umbrellas as you would draw attention to yourselves.

Enjoy

I'm with TW on this one...there are many MUCH NICER beaches that you could bring your chair and umbrella to...with nicer sand, nicer water, nicer snorkeling, nicer views...I'd avoid the beach at the Westin unless I was staying there...

We are staying at the Tennis Villa and Cottage and are within walking distance to the Westin beach. It will be nice to be within a 5 min. walk to the beach when our group is not in the mood to pack up the vehicle and go somewhere else. We are definitely planning to use the beach.

I would saying using it will be no problem. That said I stayed at the Westin for a week and was on that beach three times for a total of about forty five minutes out of the week. Once in the evening we walked down had a seven dollar bushwhacker and went back to the villa. The other two times were to use the dock to get onto boats to go somewhere else. I have to agree its not the greatest beach on the island.
Enjoy your trip.

while I can understand that one might want to use the beach at the Westin ( the kids love the water toys), if I was a paying guest I would be a little miffed if the lounge chairs and unbrellas were all taken by someone NOT staying there. We have stayed at the Westin and have spent part of the day on the beach, for the kids sake. We also have stayed on Great Cruz Bay, within walking distance of the Westin. The kids would swim over and play in the water toys, but under no circumstances would I have thought to use the chairs and umbrellas!!! Or even the chairs around the pool,( unless there were lots of chairs and no people) I can remember when we did stay at the Westin and would have to come down at the crack of dawn to "claim" a chair around the pool. Typical resort problem. People leaving their towels on the chairs and tables and then showing up at noon! I don't care if one would look out of place with their own chairs and umbrella...I just think the guests staying there should have first shot at a place to sit!

I see what you're saying Suzi, but as a timeshare owner, I too, don't understand why anyone would spend much time at The Westin beach...well, anyone without kids, that is. It's perfect for the kids, but it's pretty dreadful otherwise. I can't imagine that place getting crowded over the summer. I'd say that if you're a non-guest and the chairs start filling up, just pick up your things and leave so that hotel guests have a spot. If it's not crowded, then no biggie.
