My husband & I have an incredible opportunity to visit & work for a few months on STT. The agency is puting us up @ saffire village. I have been told to watch our water/electric because it is expense. Does each unit have its own meter? And how expensive can it be that they felt the need to warn me?

Go to "Other Forum, Relocation Message Board (top right of this page) and then click on the announcement "Click here if new to this board."

This will give you a huge amount of information on relocating including information about utilities. If you still can't find exactly what you're looking for, do a key word search on "utilities," "WAPA," "Sapphire," etc. and that will lead you to discussion threads and more info.

Hope this helps.

I take it you're talking about Sapphire Beach? The water rate is 6 cents per gallon and is metered individually per condo. Electric is also individually metered. Yes, electricity is expensive.

We're just up the road at Point Pleasant Resort (1 bedroom/1 bath condo). Our monthly electric bills are averaging about $450. per month for the summer months. A/C is running most of the time. Plus I understand that WAPA (the power company) is getting a 19% increase in July.

Hope this doesn't scare you away.....water & power on island are very expensive. But you can limit your A/C and water use to reduce costs.

Regards,

F.I.
