😛 Does anyone know what day of the week Vie does her baking of her coconut tarts??

I was thinking it was Monday because when we went on Thursday they were all gone already. Just trying to plan the trip and don't want to miss out on this STJ must have.

If any of you ready this have never had her tarts you are doing yourself a dis-service. THe coconut is exceptional. SHe has great food there too. It is a must visit in Coral Bay area.

Thanks ahead of time 🙂

I've never had Vie's coconut tarts but I would like to mention Jerry's bakery in STT, she bakes all of her tarts fresh each morning. She has a great assortment of other goodies too. You can stop by and pack the cooler with a few subs made on fresh baked bread as well. They are located in Smith Bay on Cassi Hill a little up the hill from Coki Road.

I'll make it a point to try out Vie's tarts the next time that I am in town. Now my mind is playing tricks with me, it's as if I can smell those wonderful coconut tarts right now!

I would be happy just to drive all the way there, after multiple reassurances that she's open, and actually find her shack OPEN!! I'd settle for warm coca-cola and left over anything at this point. Its been built up so much over the years but every time we've driven there, no signs of life at all!! Very frustrating!

Vie's is closed for august and september, but will open again. Her number is easy to find, so you can just call ahead of time to make sure she is open. Her daughter, Jasmine, works with her now. They are open, tues-sat. Her food and her beach make the journey well worth it. While you're in the area, don't forget to stop at Sloop Jones, it is just past Vie's.

After September remember that she's closed on Sunday and Monday. We love Vie's beach and her food, especially here garlic chicken and johnny cakes. I think I had a pineapple tart in June when we went there that was yummy. I think she bakes her tarts everyday but don't go too late in the day or she'll be sold out.

Beach at Vie's? Did I read this wrong? I am now wondering if all the trips we took to Vie's when it was closed took us to the wrong location???!!! We have taken about 5-6 trips to that side of the island and went to a very small shack on the left heading out to the end of the land mass which was on a small hill and saw a Vie's sign. But it was never open despite reassurances from the folks at Maho or Concordia that it was open for sure that day. I wonder if we went to the wrong place???? Also, what is Sloop Jones?

Hi Largosgirl,

Vie's isn't on the beach but her family owns property that is beachfront - across the road from the snack shack. They allow people to go through the property to the beach for a small fee. It is nicknamed Vie's Beach but is actually Hansen Bay. Vie's is a small snack shack on the left side of the road like you described. Hand painted signs with hours on the side of the shack. Make a note of Vie's telephone number (340) 693-5033. You can call next time you are on island and plan to go and hopefully this time you will get to try her food and deserts! 🙂

Sloop Jones is a St. John artist and the name of his store. He does hand-painted clothing, hats and other items.
