We just stayed at Blue Skies. It's in Great Cruz Bay. Maybe a 7-10 minute drive to town.

Great breezes and a nice house. We had some hiccups last week, but one of them got repaired (and should not impact anyone else in the future) and the other was a weird weather-related thing.

It's small-ish, but has 2 nice BR's and a small guest cottage (extra $$ to rent) with 2 additional BR's.

We booked through Caribbean Villa but I'm not sure I'd do that again. You can go straight to the owner and rent it. I can supply an email address if you like. PM me for it if interested.

The last two times we have stayed in STJ we have stayed at Villa Cielomar which is walking distance into Cruz Bay. It just past Gallows and up to the left from Frank Bay. We have really liked it a lot and would stay there again (we can't get back soon enough). They do have room for 4 people. However, only the master bedroom has A/C. There are two twin beds in the upstairs loft which we have pushed together for couples. Both bedrooms have their own bathrooms as well. There are a number ceiling fans and oscillating fans through out the villa as well. But it has been great to have a full kitchen at our disposal for our trips to help save some $$$ at breakfast/lunch times. We also love the pool! We are in/out multiple times a day!

We did rent a jeep while we have been there too, but only for 1 or 2 days since we could walk in/out of town easily. Here is the website:

Enjoy your time in paradise!

These villas are side by side and an easy 5 minute drive to Cruz Bay. We stayed at Caneel Trailside Cottage last year and it is in good condition. The website pics are accurate. Have only seen the second from the outside, but it looks very nice. I would stay there again.

I think Allesandra, as waterguy recommended, may have the nicest setting. We visited last year and liked it so much we rented it for this November. My favorite bargain is Dolphin Run through Caribbean Villas; remember to add their 5% service charge to the price. http://www.caribbeanvilla.com/lelapin/lelapin.html

If 10 minutes isn't too far out for you, please take a look at South Shore Villa. We are located at the edge of the National Park and on the top of the mountain. Great views, star gazing, and breezes. You can see a video of the property on our site. Good luck making your choice, there are plenty of great villas on the island and just about all have nice views!

Opps, I just realized my post reads a little too much as a commercial for our Villa. Sorry about that. At any rate, good luck with your search and as I said before there are a lot of great places to stay on island (not just ours). Just find the spot you want to be and you can be sure you will find a great home with incredible views and very likely good management. There are no really bad places on St John. 🙂
