I'm trying to whittle our 2009 villa choices down to just a few finalists. We have 3 couples. Wife and I have been to STT/STJ 6 years running. One other couple came with us 2 years ago. My sister and her husband will be first-timers.

Anyone stay in Villa Margherita?

or - anyone have a terrific recommendation? We're trying to stay under $5,000 with tax for the week. Pool and A/C in bedrooms are a must.

Thanks!

What time of year are you coming? Off season is April 15-Nov 15, so expect a 30% drop in rates during that time.

Pool and bedroom AC are (almost) standard for within your price range.

Check out www.villafish.com for STJ houses. They can pinpoint your specific needs (rate, pool, ac) and give several recommendations.

We are coming in February. Trying for Feb 8 - 15.

I'm finding the pool and air conditioning fairly common. Trying to avoid the 4 wheel drive expense if possible - those things are expensive! There are 3 couples, so we'll need 2 vehicles. At $500 per week per jeep, it eats up a lot of budget. $1,000 for 2 Jeeps or $600 for 2 Taurus. That $400 difference buys a lot of fun!

Thanks for the site.

Villa Margherita has a large spa and AC, but no pool. I've stayed at places with a pool, but never go in, because it's just too cold, not like the ocean. Also, Villa M has two master suites, and a room with twins for kids. Probably not a good choice for 3 couples.

Well we were three couples
We went with Solaris that exact week this year +/- a day or two

Here is our Trip Report: https://www.vinow.com/wwwtalk/read.php?4,88142,88142#msg-88142

Absoultely loved it! If you follow the thread to the bottom there are pictures linked also

We went with one car - it was a dodge suv thing - plenty of room and plenty of power.

Enjoy

Thanks for the feedback and for the trip report link. We decided to go with Island Horizons this year. We've never stayed outside of Cruz Bay and believe we'll appreciate the view, the comforts of the villa, and some time in Coral Bay (we've NEVER been to the restaurants/bars in Coral Bay).
