We have decided on a villa and are ready to book but was told they only accept a personal check for payment. Is this common practice? We were thinking that a credit card would give some protection, etc. should there be any problems. We are booking through carefree getaways. If anyone has used them before, some feedback would be great.

I stayed in Bongo Bongo in July for a week. It is an awesome villa. I will be happy to share information with you.

Is Bongo, Bongo fully air conditioned?

My last stay in STT at the Watergate, they took my security deposit check & cashed it. Than I had to wait about 2 weeks to get it back after the visit. Never had that. Usually people just hold the check & not cash it.

Both of the bedrooms are fully airconditioned with full baths and also outside showers surrounded with stone -- I never took a shower inside because these were so nice. You enter Bongo Bongo through a gate in the center of the house to an open air dining room -- it is totally covered, but open. The great room and kitchen have what they call sliders which means the sliding doors are concealed in the wall -- we never closed them except when we left for the day. This part of the villa is not air conditioned. There is a huge veranda that runs the length of the house with seating in a couple of areas including a hot tub at one end. The next level overlooks the pool and is basially an area for sitting in the sun and a table and chairs with stairs leading down from both ends to the expansive pool decking. The pool is a blackbottom pool with a fountain and is fairly large based on other pools on the island. You overlook Chocolate Hole. The bedrooms are great -- basically two master suites even though one might be described as a little large than the other -- but not really. The bedrooms are on opposite ends of the house so that you have total privacy and there are sliding glass doors from each one leading to the top veranda. Very West Indian decor. Just hold you breath going up and down the driveway -- someone described this as the "driveway to heaven" as it is very steep! This villa is very close to the Westin -- you go past the Westin and it is basically the first road on the left and then you go almost to the top. Very clean and the views were good as well. Let me know of other questions.

CJ,
Thanks for all the detailed information. I followed their blog and it was amazing. Is the house and pool area private? I recall someone saying it was.

The house and pool are very private. You can see some other villas, but not really that close since you are on top of a hill. Please feel free to ask any questions -- we were very pleased with the villa.
