We are arriving in St Thomas on 1/1/2014 at 4:40pm so we will not make the last ferry to water island and I guess Water Island Ferry doesn't offer special runs anymore. So I was wondering if there are any water taxis that offer private runs to Water Island. There will be 4 of us.

Did you call the number listed on the ferry schedule (340-690-4159)? I hadn't heard that they were discontinuing "special" trips for people such as yourselves.

If that's indeed the case you could contact Dolphin Water Taxi or Dohm's.

Yes I did call them. They are the ones that told me they don't do special runs anymore.
I will try the one you mentioned
Thanks

Did you ask them if they are considering 1/1 a holiday? The schedule says holidays are Thanksgiving and Christmas. There is a 6:00 ferry and you should have no trouble making that one if you land on time.

I used to live on Water Island back around 1982 and 1983. At the time I was captain of a 115 foot dinner cruise boat out of St. Thomas. We sometimes made trips to St. John.
I lived at a Hotel on Water Island called the Sugar Bird. The Hotel was closed up at the time but they let employees live there. The main building was in pretty bad shape. It was undergoing renovations at the time. I lived in one of the smaller buildings. They had a passenger ferry from St Thomas to Water Island. I had sold them a 41 foot fiberglass boat to use as a ferry. That is how I met the owner of the hotel. He also had the dinner cruise operation.
