As in my earlier post, www.flamingopointusvi.com. 4 bedroom/2 bath home. King size beds in each bedroom. Split plan (2 bedrooms/1 bath on one side, 2 bedrooms/1 bath on other side with great room - kitchen, dining room and living room in-between). wide wrap around porch. 3 bedrooms have direct access to the porch. The home/property is secluded at the end of Lookout Point Road. Surrounded on 3 sides by the Caribbean with views to the south, west and north (lights over STT). Our home can support up to 8 people. We can accomodate an additional 2 persons in the 1 bedroom suite on the lower level - 1 bedroom, 1 bath, kitchen/living room with private access also with wide wrap-around porch on the lower level. 4x4 crew cab truck with 'safari' in the back made available for registered guests for transportation on Water Island for no additional charge. **Drivers must be 25 years of age or older. Weekly rental for the main home is $2000. 1 bedroom suite (we call it the "Flamingolow") is additional $800. We offer the Flamingolow only in conjunction with the main home. If you have additional questions, feel free to send PM.

My family and I visited several islands over the years. We loved Water Island so much we bought property. The beaches are clean, the people are friendly, and the island is safe. Water Island is away from the cruise ship crowds. There is just quite pristine island to enjoy. We visit whenever we can. When we are not there we offer our properties for rent.

Check out www.slowmocean.com to see our two properties. One is a 2 br 2 bath house on the crest of the island with great views and breeze. It has a huge deck that runs the entire length of the house. The deck is very private. The house was completely renovated with new kitchen and baths. It comes with golf cart for transportation.

The other property is a 1 br 1 bath cottage in private Sprat Bay Estates. Guests have access to one of the most private beaches in the USVI. There are approx 19 houses on 100 acres of land. the cottage too was recently updated and furnished. It too comes with golf cart.

I have been to the VI's multiple times, but never to Water Island. We are heading back down there in June. Is there anything for us to do there if we go for the day? We are beach lounging people...so even just a particular beach to hang out on for the day?

Thanks for any suggestions!

What is snorkeling like around the island?

I remember some bay on the southern side that had lots of flotsam from the ocean and ships, but that was 24 years ago so I have slept since then. 🙂

Singerjen and Docric, Water island is a great place to go for even a day. A short walk from the ferry is Honeymoon Beach where Heidi Honeymoon Grill serves up great burgers, chicken, etc. as well as drinks and snacks. Joe's Beach Bar offers frosty drinks including some of the best bushwackers. Just up from the beach is the Botanical Gardens which is tended/maintained by island volunteers. If you're more adventurous and up for some exercise you can hike up to Ft. Segarro for the 360 views of surrounding islands as well as take your own tour of the old fort. Snorkeling off of Honeymoon Beach is great for novice with sandy bottoms and then more marine life to see around the rocky points on either side. Sprat Bay is great for snorkeling as well, it's on the southeast side of the island with coral and lots of fish and other stuff to see. I've not snorkeled Limestone Beach but it looks kinda rough.

I've heard there isn't transportation on Water Island except for golf carts. Will we need one just for a day to get around or is everything pretty walkable? If we do need one, are there ones for rent near the ferry dock?

I am not aware of anyone that rents golf carts or other transportation on Water Island. And, there are no taxis either. Residents and vacation rental guests are very friendly and welcoming so you may be able to hitch a ride with someone but that's hit or miss. You can easily walk to Honeymoon Beach or the Botanical Gardens. Wear comfortable walking shoes.
