Hi there.. I know this may be lame question. But I am going there at the end of the month and I am worried about the weather 🙁 Has it really been raining and cloudy there ? I know I shouldn't doubt "the weather channel" . But I do only because the last time I went on vacation to Maui "they" said it was rainy and when I go there. there was no rain in sight at all.. hahah

thanks !

Bookmark the National Hurricane Center website and check it as often as you need to.

Right now, it looks like Tropical Storm Ernesto will pass through the Windward Islands into the Caribbean, staying south of the VI.

You can always check the weather here http://www.wunderground.com/weatherstation/WXDailyHistory.asp?ID=MD8627

That's the link to my weather station at Mahogany Run. You can also view it here: http://www.weatherlink.com/user/mahoganyrun/

The station is a Davis Vantage Pro 2 located on my patio in Mahogany Run. Enjoy and feel free to share the links.

Fortunately excludes PR and the Virgin Islands.

The tsunami alert for the Caribbean was a mistake. The alert was supposed to be for the Pacific region.
Here is a copy of the actual VITEMA alert that explains the mistake.

Alert / Warning

Geophysical - Tsunami Information Statement

...This is an ACTUAL TSUNAMI INFORMATION STATEMENT ALERT...

Issued By: VITEMA Jurisdictions:  St. Croix, St. John, St. Thomas, Water Island Counties

Headline:  Virgin Islands Not Under Tsunami Watch or Warning

Description:

A 7.9 magnitude earthquake occurred at 8:42 a.m. today off the coast of Costa Rica, Latitude 9.9 degrees north, Longitude 85.5 degrees west.  According to the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center no tsunami watch or warning has been issued for the US Virgin Islands or Puerto Rico.

A Tsunami Watch that was  issued for lower Caribbean islands, Latin America, and several South American countries has been canceled. According to the Tsunami Warning Center, the Tsunami Watch was meant for the Pacific and was inadvertently sent to the Caribbean.

Instructions:
The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center will not issue any other statements for this event. Further information may be issued by the US Geological Survey or the Puerto Rico Seismic Network.

I look at that live cam of Sapphire Beach every day and dream about next year's trip back.

I'm starting to think that taking a cruiseship over booking an interior room would be cheaper than stupid airfare. Do they let you take a delayed return cruise? I always see people get off the ships with luggage in tow, and see people getting aboard with luggage too.

We like Sapphire Beach. But we always stay at Cowpet Bay East or Elysian. they are beachfront, have 2 restaurants, a bar and fabulous pool in addition to the beach. If a storm comes up we just run over to Sangrias Restaurant and bar, always a good time and good food as well.

Wish it would rain!
Sorry Tourists but cisterns are getting low.
It's been awhile since we had any good rain over the summer with all the Sahara dry air.
Can't complain too much as that helps keep hurricanes from forming.
