OK...it appears it's our turn.

All of this talk about storms in the Caribbean, should I go on vacation when the Weather Channel predicts rain, etc., etc.
STJ is really looking good right about now.

I live 15 miles from Galveston, have boarded the house, packed what 'valuables' we can into the cars and will follow the other ordered evacuees heading NW. The headlines from Lousiana, Mississippi and Alabama will soon be shared with Texas.

I do not send this for your pity or concern...we will be OK and my family will be with me. I write this to remind everyone who frets over 'little' things in life that it can be worse. Go on vacation. If it rains, read a book, go shopping, find a bar but always remember there are silver linings and you will ALWAYS find them so long as you look for them. God bless. 🙂

The Weather Channel is a good source of info about hurricanes and tropical storms and depressions, but, as far as predicting our weather here....forget it. Unless there is a storm (which is NOT often), our weather is always the same, with a variation of about 5 or six degrees from the coldest part of winter to the hottest part of summer. It rains everyday here...but not like in America. It's usually a 10 or 20 minute shower, and then the sun is back out with rainbows. You might be at, say, Mountaintop, and the weather is perfect, but you look out to Jost and they are having rain, but STJ is not. Or you might look down and see that Magens Beach is having rain, but Mountaintop is fine. Go inside, get a bannana daiquiri, come back out and look down again and you will see that the beach is back to perfect weather, but Perterborg is now getting rained on. Gotta love the tradewinds! The local weather in our Daily News, or on TV with SuperDave, or on www.wunderground.com, will have the same report for a whole week. This week it's a high of 90, low of 80, chance of rain 30%, Easterly breeze at 5-10 knots. Don't even let the weather factor into your vacation plans...unless there is a storm heading our way.

Hello Chris,

Thank you for the reminder. You said you weren't looking for concern; but you've got it anyway. Be safe and let’s hope for the best. (tu)

We're back, having dodged the big one by 30 miles and ending up on the 'clean' side. Unfortunately, our blessing meant someone else took the hit and I hope they fared as well as can be expected. I know they will get all of our support in any way we can provide.
