Hey my hubby and I are planning to come to STT the first 2 weeks in May. What can we expect weather wise. And whats your opinion of the emerald beach best western. My hubby has a new knee and cant walk to far but we are hoping to do lots of snorkeling. What beaches have fairly easy access?? Thanks for your help!
tourists from the mountains of Montana where we have 4 ft of snow.

We stayed there a few years ago - pretty pool, decent restaurant, very nice beach (you would never know you were within walking distance to the airport).. you might want to do a search on this board, key in Emerald Beach, there have been lots of comments. You might also want to research on other locations on STT - Personally, I would not stay there again because of the somewhat isolated location and to stay there two weeks the view from the beach, albeit lovely, would get boring - you will definitely want to explore the island - I would think... maybe not... Have you considered splitting up your stay, maybe a week there and then a week on STJ or the BVI's... that would be my suggestion. I am sure you will have a wonderful trip regardless - the islands are quite addictive!

There are a number of beaches on St. Thomas -- but our favorites are Coki (very local) and Sapphire. You can also take your car via Ferry to St. John for more beautiful beaches -- Trunk Bay (underwater national park) and Hawkes Next. Not sure about the hotel you mention --- but we just stayed at a beautiful place which I think might be what you are looking for. Take a look - www.harmonysuite.com. We loved it.

I have recommended the BW Emerald Beach a few times. Nothing fancy - - but the price is right and all rooms have a walk-out patio to the beach. Request the first floor in light of your hubby's new knee. It's an awesome beach. No rocks. You'll hear the planes taking off in the afternoon - - but kind of interesting. Nothing at night.

I stayed at the BW Emerald Beach last March. I enjoyed it, however i didnt like being on that far end of the island right by the airport. You could hear everytime a jet landed and took off. I would've liked being closer to all the restaurants and everything. I am staying on St. John this year because i enjoyed it more. BW had decent rooms, nice restaurant. Beach was nice but not my fave. Have fuN!
