Hello all,
I hope there may be some locals on this board or very seasoned travelers who could answer my questions. How's the weather in St. John in March and April? How are the water conditions?
My husband and I traveled to St. John twice during the month of December and once in January. In January, the winds and waves were kicked up to the point of closing some beaches on the north side. There were people surfing at one beach! This caused Salt Pond Bay to be absolutely crowded....in December, we were two of maybe 8 people, tops. In general, there were short 10 minutes rain storms and that was it.
We could not travel in December or January this year...and probably not in February either. My husband owes me 9 nights to cancel out a hospital stay I had in November.
Any advice is welcome....thanks.
The winds start to calm down in March and April, and from my past experience, there is little to no rain. You shouldn't experience big waves during that time, and the water is starting to warm up again in those months. Other than the throng of tourists on island, March and April are great months to be down here.
We used to go in January or February, but have been going in March for the past several years and have never experienced any large waves. Our villa owner has often told us that March is her favorite month to be there. Perfect weather! We will be there exactly 2 months from today - March 3-11. Can't wait!
Thanks for both of your responses. I'll start to needle the hubby about it and hope it's possible for this year.
