I will be on the Island April 4th and will be renewing my vows on Megan' s Bay. Does it get very crowded when the ships are in? Any suggestions where to shop within walking distance and a good place to eat? Nothing fancy please we're casual beach bums ( but will be dressed very nice for our renewals) We have a friend from Tortola who lives on Long Island, NY with us and is psyching us up so much just by telling us stories of life down there. Can't wait!!! Are shells for the picking? Please respond.

Yes, Fran, it does get very crowded, obviously because that is one of the main beaches on St. Thomas people on cruise ships always try and go to. There is a grille and store at Magen's Bay, nothing else walking distance, besides some places us locals go, but we don't give that info out! 🙂

And no, you cannot bring home shells. It is illegal.

Fran: Magens is a very long beach. The cruise people stick to the area around the bar and restaurant. If you go the the far left as you look at the water, you will find a nice area! The only thing within walking distance is the rest of the beach! For a nice lunch, you will need to drive somewhere.

Indigo at Megan's Point Resort is not far and has an excellent lunch menu!
Congratulations! 🙂

I didn't think of Indigo! Great choice. I actually blanked out on lunch spots.
