Has anyone used the Westin Ferry vs. the Taxi, Red Hook Ferry, Taxi option? Is it worth the $?? We are scheduled to arrive @ 2, will we have to wait? Thanks

Hi - depends really - it is more convenient tio take the Westin ferry of course - if you are with kids I would say take the Westin ferry for sure - if not - the RH taxi/ferry/taxi is cheaper - but you will be lugging bags around and you will not be used to the heat/hunidity after coming off the plane.

We took the CA-CB last year - no issues - but it was just adults and we knew what to expect. Doing this for the 1st time - and with kids (or old folk) - why try and save - yu are staying at the Westin afterall - if $ was a concern - you would be staying somewhere else.

good luck - we will be there tomorrow - you owe me a drink - lol,
I may take the RH ferry in order to get to the jeep rental in time to pick-up for Friday nite - and leave the rest of teh gang to wait for the Westin ferry.

The westin ferry trip also includes unlimited trips to st. thomas during your stay, so if you plan on going over to STT to shop or whatever, it maybe an option for you. Cost using RH is cheaper but like you mentioned previously, taxi, bags, ferry, taxi on STJ. If your staying at the westin it's definiteley more convenient but you still may have to wait a bit. You can check with the concierge at the Westin for the approximate times.

Enjoy your trip

You check into the hotel at the airport, then she shuttle you off to Crown Bay to get their ferry to the Westin. You will see your luggage next in your room. What could be more convenient than that?

We were there last week. The Ferry leaves at 2:30 and 4:45. If you're there at 2, they'll put you on the 4:45 ferry. By the time you get your bags you won't have enough time to get on the 2:30 Ferry anyway. We get in at 1:55 every year (same US Air flight out of Philly every year), always travel with carry on only (so no waiting for the bags to come off the plane) and still get put on the later ferry.

So here's what we do. Since the airlines aren't serving meals anymore, we wait until we get there. There's a restaurant right at the Crown Bay Marina dock. We have a late lunch there, get our first umbrella drink, relax, snop around the luxury yachts, and before you know it, it's time to go. You can also do a little food shopping while you wait also.

Relax, enjoy, it's all good!

Just a question.
Is this a service they provide all year-long??

Yup...it's always vacation season on the islands....thus they provide the service all year long!

I've done the red hook, charlotte amalie, and the westin ferries. They are all easy, but the westin is definitely mindless. We bring a crapload of food with us, and not having to worry about the extra luggage is great...especially since I live in San Diego, California (land of dry weather and cool breezes) and the minute I step off the plane I feel like I've entered a sauna.

Plus, you'll get another rum punch when you deboard the westin ferry...I don't know why that makes it worth the extra money, but somehow it just does. I mean, they carry all of your bags, drive you to the ferry, ferry you to the resort, booze you up, and drive you to your room where your bags are awaiting. It doesn't get much better than that!
