Hello. I just booked my husband and I for the last week in October at the Westin (Studio Villa). Can anyone give me insight on the property, as neither of us have been to St. John.?. I frequently travel within the US on business, and I normally stay at either Westins or W's - however, I know that sometimes the properties vary based on location. Any information would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

We've stayed at the Westin a couple of times. Very nice, upscale resort. Nicely finished rooms, everything you would expect in a modern resort. Big pool, several restaurants and bars. Resort has its own beach (average at best - compared to the other beaches on the island) with water sports...beach chairs, sailboats, water bikes, big trampoline, etc. There is a dock for the occasional ferry and day trip sails. Nice health club, deli (morning rolls and coffee). No reason you wouldn't be happy there.

Of course, the real charm of St John is not the resort - if you only see the Westin you've truly deprived yourself of what St John has to offer...the beaches, snorkeling, diving, hiking, eating in town, visiting the east end, taking a day trip to another island, enjoying the sunset with a cocktail, etc., etc. I strongly suggest you rent a vehicle while you are there. Let the Westin be your home base, but be sure to check everything out while you're there. You won't be sorry.

We are going back to the Westin in July...we stayed in the villas 2 years ago. They are very nice with all the amenities.....full kitchen, microwave, utensils, and a pool. The heavenly bed is very nice. It's hard to get up in the mornings but, I don't waste my vacation time sleeping! The villas are across the street from the Westin and up a pretty steep hill. They have golf carts that drive around. They will take you up to the villas but, we usually walked. It's about a ten minute walk to the beach from the villas...the beach is man-made..so get out and go exploring! St. John has the most beautiful natural beaches that I have ever seen. The food at the resort is expensive and not as good as the restaurants in town. Groceries are expensive because everything has to be ferried in...about double US prices. It is still cheaper to cook in the villa than eat out. We had no problem with the water....it has to brought in, too. If you go exploring make sure that you have a supply of H2O and watch out for the donkeys!!!!

A lot has changed in two years! Just kidding. Not too much on old St John, except I think the food we serve at Chloe and Bernards(above the lobby) is as good as any in town. We arent owned by the westin and are run by the same company that has Asolare, Chateau Bordeaux, and Paradiso. Hey, I gotta plug Chloe's!
But yeah, the beaches on the north shore of the island are the best.....
