I am going on a ladies trip to ST Thomas. Wondering about nightlife. We are over the age of 40, not teenagers.
Thx

I'm 40 myself, so I hear ya. I'd say Molly Malones in Red Hook (I don't know Red Hook very well), and depending on what you'r looking for, here are a few suggestions for the Charlotte Amalie area:

There are 3 places in Yacht Haven Grande (the east end of the Charlotte Amalie harbor). Wikked, Fat Turtle and Grand Cru. Wikked is known for their food, Turtle for their drinks and Cru for their stunning martini bar. None of these places are open much past 10 or 11pm though.

Captain Mayhem's is a great little low-key place. Ask for Liko - the owner. He's a great guy. They serve food there until 4am.

Offshore is a nightclub sort of thing, but very smoky, and mostly boaties hang there (I don't spend much time there, but you could check it out).

On Tuesday and Wednesday nights, the sky ride is open and takes you up to Paradise Point. There are live bands - Four Horsemen on Tuesday - who are FANTASTIC and random bands on Wednesday nights - and these are the only nights the place is open past 5:30pm or so. On these nights, the sky ride is open until 9pm at which point you can come down and have a drink at Captain Mayheym's or Shipwreck - both a half a block away.

All the places I just listed for you are within a short walking distance of each other. Have fun!

Don't forget places like the GreenHouse or Duffy's Love Shack or Caribbean Saloon! And all the little beach bars! You will NOT have any trouble finding a place to suit your needs for night life...everything from the tiny little run-down marina bar with just boaties hanging out, to bigger marina bars, like Tickles, to 'upscale' joints at Yacht Haven, to the seedy places across from the cement plant on Turpentine Road, to the bars at the resorts (like Iggies), or to the higher end places, like hanging out at Havana Blue...what are you looking for? I mean, we could go from the extreme of places like The El Cubano and a little food truck parked on the side of the road, to the paces at the Ritz...kind of a wide variety, ya know?

I do not recommend the ' seedy places ' on turpentine run. Everywhere else mentioned so far has been oriented towards an evening of entertainment that a visitor will enjoy. Now would I go to El Cubano? Probably not but it would be interesting.

Isn't that right across from Wendy's on Mandella Circle, by Havensight? Just above the Moneygram? 340-777-8777

For dancing I would recommend Duffy's, Shipwreck (DJ on Wed/Sat nights), Fat Turtle (DJ on Fri nights) and Caribbean Saloon (call for DJ nights). Capt Mayhem is a young place, I'm 33 and we checked it out - I felt like I was at a frat party. Just my opinion.

With that said most of the bars you'll run across play music- and like someone else said - if you feel like dancing...dance 🙂

You'd probably really enjoy Latitude 18 for casual waterfront dining with live music. It's located right across the water from the Red Hook ferry terminal on the East End and is a little tricky to get to but, if you're going to have your own vehicle, we can give you directions. Taxis generally won't take people there as the road is a little rough in parts. You can check out what's going on there during your visit by going online to www.virginislandsdailynews.com and using the link to the Island Trader, to the back of which is a listing of live music on STT and STJ. Cheers!

Second Latitude 18 (got it right this time)
Open Mic on Tuesday is a good time
The road to it really STINKS
But that is a good thing once you are there
it is not a crazy parking lot
and the absence of rubber animals in your drink is welcomed
of course IMHO
