Hey!

My family is going to Saint John in 2 weeks. We've been parasailing and done a lot of other things but we would like to do something different. Does anyone have any suggestions.

Love ya

I guess it just depends what you like to do.

I was there 9 days ago, and I didn't do much of anything. I shopped a little, went to all kinds of beaches, worked on my tan, chilled at the villa. One day we took a day trip to Jost Van Dyke, which was worth it.

If you want a lot of activities, there's plenty to do on STJ. If you want to chill, you can do that too. Some folks in our group took day sails or rented dinghys. Others shopped until they dropped.

There's fantastic snorkeling, and the national park has some great educational programs. There is plenty of shopping on St. Thomas too if you wanted to go back over there. STJ isn't much for night life, but there are plenty of places to grab a drink on the way back to the villa. I was in bed by 11 p.m. almost every night, and that's really early for me.

One of the great features of STJ is how much good snorkeling there is right off the beaches. You could go to a different beach every day. If you'd like to do some hiking, there are a number of trails on STJ. They range from strolls to more demanding hikes. STJ is pretty much a do-it-yourself island. I'd suggest getting a guidebook or two---we use "Feet, Fins & 4wd" and also "St John: Off the Beaten Track"--Rent a vehicle, load your snorkel gear and some food and drank. Go explore the island.
