I'm staying at the Marriott (family of four) and would like your thoughts of best breakfast restaurants near the Marriott. I really do not like spending $100 for breakfast at the hotel. I just want eggs and toast and coffee in the morning. The rest of the family is the same. I'm not looking for an IHOP.
Thanks

PS: reading the message board is like enjoying a good book. Everyone has a common bond .. .. water, beach and people.

Hi John,

My vote is for the Delly Deck in Havensight, where the cruise ships dock, which really isn't all that far from the Marriotts. Great breakfasts reasonably priced. My boyfriend insists that their western omelets are the best in the world.

I also think Tickles at Crown Bay Marina and Hook Line and Sinker in Frenchtown have great breakfasts, but a little further from the resort.

I think Hook, line only does a brunch on Sunday's. In Frenchtown the place is the Frenchtown Deli. In town, it's Bumpa's on the waterfront. Overall the Delly Deck is the best bet!

I third the above, the Delly Deck has a very good, and reasonably priced breakfast in that area.

Isn't there an IHOP in Tutu? Just curious, but my vote is for Delly Deck for sure. There are several little bakeries as well if you want some bread or doughnuts. Cream and Crumb in Havensight (same area as Delly Deck) comes to mind.

Gladys' Cafe in downtown CA is also very good (across from ferry dock). Gladys sings too! You can catch the CA ferry from the Marriott or drive (only 5-10 minutes).

Lol! I hear you on the IHOP issue. Though once my kids learned that there is now an IHOP on STT, they are more excited about the trip. Go figure!

Delly Deck is on the road into town form the FR. In the Havensight Mall as you get to flat land!

Hi Patrick,

No sure what time they open. Omlets are gooood! If you haven't tried them, please do. I have a "local" friend who turned me on to them.

I sometimes go fishing at Magen's early morning that's why I was asking what time they open. A good omelette would be a great ending to an early morning fishing adventure wether I catch something or not.

My family just returned from St Thomas and I thank all of you contributing to my breakfast inquiry. Delly Deck won hands-down for the family.

Dear Blu - yes, we even tried Magens for breakfast, the food was good but I'm not keen eating eggs on a paper plate in the morning.

My best,
John

I love Delly Deck, and the one breakfast I had at Tickles was really very good, also. But now, I'm wondering, how good or bad can a breakfast be? I'm basically an eggs over-easy, crispy bacon and rye toast kind of person. Not much you can do to ruin that meal. Would I call a place a bad breakfast place because once the bacon wasn't quite crispy enough? I doubt it. John, on the other hand, and as you all probably know, is a big western omelet fan. He has proclaimed that Delly Deck makes them to perfection. That I can understand. There can be different levels of greatness to an omelet.

What do you order for breakfast that makes it possible to rate these establishments?

Then, again, perhaps its a combination of food, service, atmosphere and price.

I luv Tickles at Crown Bay because the service is great, and I enjoy being right on the water, feeling the good breezes as I dine. The food is decent - but I must say that the atmosphere is what keeps me around.

Okay, I love grits with breakfast, and can get them at Robert's (cheese grits- yum!) and Molly Molones's. Molly's also has a bottomless Mimosa and Bloody Mary on weekends...

They have grits at Delly Deck, too.

I'm not a fan of Tickles - it's hard to avoid the smokers, the last time we were there flies joined our breakfast, and sometimes you can smell the diesel from the boats. Their home fries are more like beefsteak fries than home fries.

Hmmm, does Paradise Gate serve breakfast? I'll check them out tomorrow.
