I'm staying at the Marriott (family of four) and would like your thoughts of best breakfast restaurants near the Marriott. I really do not like spending $100 for breakfast at the hotel. I just want eggs and toast and coffee in the morning. The rest of the family is the same. I'm not looking for an IHOP.
Thanks

PS: reading the message board is like enjoying a good book. Everyone has a common bond .. .. water, beach and people.

Wikked has some interesting offerings such as eggs benedict with johnny cake and salmon. Yum...

I checked out the web site for the Delly Deck and it looks great for breakfast and maybe even lunch.but where would anyone recommend dinner? We are a family of four, 2 adults 2 teens. We do not want to spend $200 for a meal every night. And although we do not drink we would still like to go somewhere fun. Any suggestions?
I see in an old message there once was a Hard Rock Cafe, is it gone now?

Hard Rock is now gone, it's true. There was word of it coming back once it found a new location. From what I've heard on the street, the rent went up too high and they did not sign on for a new lease in their downtown location (International Plaza). It's mentioned in a 2006 HRC press release in paragraph 10, but not the reason why. http://www.hardrock.com/corporate/press/content.aspx?id=145. I enjoyed this restaurant, wish it would come back.

tristan: You might want to start a new thread on dinners, as your question is going to get lost in all the omelets and grits! 😉

tristan, for casual diing close to The Reef, you might want to check out Paradise Gate in Havensight all the way down to the left. They have a varied affordable menu with kid-friendly food, big screen tvs, video game room, gym, pool, and Internet cafe with free wi-fi with purchase.

It's big and airy enough so the smoke won't bother you (like in the Shipwreck), if anyone is smoking, and it's air conditioned. I used to always order the 1/4 chicken with 2 sides for $8.95, but last time I was there, I see they raised the price to $11.95, so I ordered the burger. It was good. The chicken, though, could easily be shared with 2 kids, and they offer great veggies as one of the side dishes. The kids can also wander around in the place, because it's so spacious (some parents bring their kids there for birthday celebrations). Their pizza is just so-so too me (for pizza, you can go to Pizza Amore which is across the street from Havensight at Al Cohen's Mall - they serve beer and wine). My friends like their quesadillas.

Hope you enjoy your trip!

The breakfast buffet at The Reef is awesome! Made to order omelets, variety of sausage, biscuits n gravy, grits, potatoes, every imaginable fresh fruit, lox n bagels, muffins, pastries, waffles, crepes, pancakes, cereals, yogurt, bacon, scrambled eggs, and much more that I've probably forgotten. It's not cheap, but not outrageously expensive either. Worth it in my opinion, especially for light lunchers, or those who skip lunch altogether.

How about grabbing some incredible muffins and or banana bread at the Red Hook Deli? We do it every morning when we are in St. Thomas!

And.. we visit twice a year... every year!

We'd vote for the Deli Deck as well. At the very least we always it it on the way to the airport when we leave (we drown our sorrows in a tall glass of cranberry juice) and have a great meal regardless of the hour.

I forgot to mention "Blue Moon Cafe" at Secret Harbor. One of our favorite spots. Great food and great staff.
