Good Early Evening!

I have seen pictures of this part of STT recently and now I am really intrigued and would love to see it in person! I am talking about the long an slim beach looking area. I will attempt to "attach" it in here so I hope this works. I had a couple questions : I take it this was shot from the west side near Sandy Bay facing east? Am I allowed to visit this very tip of the island or is it "private"??? Is it safe? Is it as beautiful as in the pictures I have seen??? I do not see roads on google earth, but it looks like you can walk there........... is there a place to park and about how far of a walk would it be to get to the thin strip of beach? What is this area called? Is there anything special about it? Ok, sorry for all the questions about it, lol. I guess I was just wondering the 411 of this west tip of the island, if it even is the west tip, because it looks gorgeous! Or is this the Red Hook area??? Yes, I am a virgin virgin islander so I do not know much about the island yet 🙂

Oh, and since I am on the topic and looking at google earth and assuming this is the west side of the island, is there anything on Salt Cay or West Cay worth seeing? Can you swim to those places or are there any tours to those cays if there is anything to see there? (or even just feel like you are on your own island)

The strip of beach in your photo is called 'Mermaids Chair' - it is accessed by parking in the 'Botany Bay' gated development - they have a few - "public access" - parking spaces - registering at the guardhouse and walking down about a mile+ - they do not allow any guest vehicles down the road - take water!! - the walk back up is fairly steep seems longer and hot - it is paved.
The current between there and the Cays is often strong but possible to swim - i am not recommending doing that swim - they are accessible by boat if you rent one or charter.
It is the west end of St. Thomas - there are a few rental villas out there which would give you vehicle access.
