We are spending 7 nights on St John in June (I can't wait:-)). We have two nights at the end of our vacation to decide what to do with before flying back out of STT at 1PM.

We are myself and my husband, my 4 year old son and my parents.

The options I am thinking about are:
1) Spend a few more nights on St John (maybe Caneel which I love),
2) Spend a couple of nights on St Thomas. My parents would like to see some of St Thomas because they haven't been there before, but I am not sure my son will enjoy it.

What are you thoughts?

Thanks for all your help

Well, your parents might enjoy the historical sites on St Thomas. As long as there's some water to play in, your 4 year old should be fine.

You might want to check Marriott's Morningstar property (their main hotel, Frenchman's Reef, will be closed for renovations). It's close to town for the historical sites, is on a beach (not the greatest but better than nothing!), and everybody loves their boat ride to get to town. I think they still do iguana feedings which is something your 4 year old might like.

You could stay at Villa Olga Inn, in Frenchtown, http://www.villaolga.net/

It's near the ocean, has a pool, a restaurant and you can easily walk to downtown St. Thomas to shop.

If your parents want to see St Thomas and have not been there, then by all means spend 2 nights there for their sake, the 4 year old should be just as happy. You considered Caneel which you love but it's not like they exactly cater to a 4 year old. However, a comparable would be the Ritz Carlton on St Thomas, and I know for a fact that there are usually a lot of kids there.

You might take a look at the Best Western Emerald Beach Resort which is on the airport road right on a lovely beach, has a very nice pool, and accepts short-term reservations. It's close to town and Frenchtown, conveniently located where taxi trips are concerned if you don't plan on renting a car and might just be the perfect fit for you for a couple of nights. Can't see that your 4 year old wouldn't enjoy STT. The Paradise Tramway, Coral World, the Butterfly Farm and lots more await him!!!
