Hi, I am planning a week long visit to St Thomas in February and am looking for some suggestions on economical but safe places to stay. I would like to be near (walking distance) the beach and will be taking a couple of day trips to other islands.

What does economical mean to you?

check out the vacationrentals.com or vrbo.com. I stayed on the east end 3 minutes from Red Hook at the Stonehouse. The owners are on site and help with any questions you might have about the island. I found that this was a good launching point for the ferry to st John and Sapphire, Coki, Lindquist, Secret harbor beaches.

we have guest rooms for 120 a night for two. Additional discount for a week stay. are right over Sapphire Beach. Each has it's own bath room, king size bed, AC, microwave, frig. There is a pool. You can walk to Sapphire Beach or take the Safari around.

You can't get much cheaper than that.

By the way we rent a two bedroom right on Sapphire Beach. 350/night. February is half taken already.

email me at [email protected] for pictures.

Try the eco-cabins at Cane Bay on St Croix. $525.00 a week. The cabins are set back in the woods, but the beach is a two minute walk. There are alot of restaurants you can go to, a dive shop, a kayak outfitter. It's cool and very reasonable.

The OP is going to STT, not STX.
