Hi everyone!

This will be our 1st trip to St. John! We are arriving April 18th, and staying at the Windcrest Villa in Estate Bethany for a week. Has anyone had any experience with this villa? It appears that there is more than one, each with an upper and lower rental. I am hoping this is not by Jacobs ladder that I read about from other posters.

I'm also trying to figure out our arrival. We are in northern Wisconsin. Cannot get a plane out of here to a major airport early enough to catch a plane to make it to St. Thomas early enough to catch the ferry. I know the ferry at Red Hook stops at midnight. So does it make sense to get to St. John at 10 or 11 pm....get the rental car, if possible and try to find the villa in the dark? Or would we be better off coming a day earlier, spend night on St. Thomas, and catch ferry in morning. I know I am probably making this more complicated than it needs to be!!

Also, this is probably a silly question, but if we go to St. Thomas grocery shopping, how will we carry all the shopping bags to the ferry? (I guess when we shop here for a week, it's like 10 bags full!!) Kid will not be with us, so that should lighten the load!!

I really appreciate your help and cannot wait to arrive! It's been 2 years since we've had a vacation!

Lisa

Highly recommend staying in STT or SJU a day early, vice hitting the island at 11PM and trying to figure it out.

There is a nice grocery store across the street from the Red Hook Ferry - so I would not worry about carrying bags....
unless you over packed for the islands 😉

Not sure where exactly your villa is located, but I am sure some one the board can help.

I know this villa very well. Left at the top of Jacobs Ladder and up up up. Are you staying upstairs or downstairs? Both spots are great.
There is a nice big pool that was just put in too. I don't know what posts you've seen here about Jacobs Ladder... but I like this property and it's a fairly quiet and private spot.

It's a long travel day... but finding this place in the dark is not difficult... it's literally 5 minutes from Cruz Bay... and waking up looking at the ocean is always a bonus!

Sorry it took me so long to get back on! Computer problems.

I really appreciate your replys. As it works out, I managed to get tickets that have us arriving at 2:13pm. on Saturday!!! So I am very excited to just get to the villa!

Thank you Villafish! We are staying upstairs in the loft. The view looks absolutely unbelievable! I saw the pic of the pool also. Do you know if these villas are in a complex? A bunch of them? I am assuming that there is more if there is a pool.

We just got another 2 inches of snow last night here in northern Wisconsin!! I am counting the hours to arriving on St. John!

My fiance and I will also be staying at the Windcrest Villa, making our trip in June for our honeymoon. From what I understand the house itself is not part of a 'complex,' the pool itself only being available to the guests of Windcrest. In short, if you're the only guests at Windcrest for your stay you'll have the pool to yourselves. The loft suite also has exclusive use of the hot tub from what I understand.

I hope you have a great time, and let me know about your experience when you get back; it would be nice to get some advice on things that we might want to bring or otherwise leave at home for our stay. Cheers!
