We have become USVI Addicts and would love to have other people to get together with to reminisce, share our faves, and of course drink Rum Punch with! We are thinking of maybe getting together 4 times a year at a local restaurant. We have some local places we could hang out at that are on the river (not the same, I know!) or Cheeseburgers in Paradise in Madison, WI. None of our family or friends understand what it's like to have the "USVI addiction" and we know there are others out there like us that can't stop talking or thinking about when we will get our next "fix"! Feel free to send me a PM or post here.

5 months and counting until we get our next fix!

Which river are you talking about? We have a group of 23 cars going to Potosi Brewery on Sun. We are in the Quad cities and do a lot of drives in Wi, just us and the Harley guys! I think we know all the back roads, on our Fall drive we go to Winona and end up at the Pickle Factory, are you anywhere near there? We are also USVI lovers and haven"t had our fix this year! ! Just not enough time to get everything in! We met a couple from Wi on a day sail to the BVI and there is a Vett girl that used to post on this site but I think she is on "the other" forum. Do I dare wear my Bears sweat shirt this Fall?..........Donna

We are close to the Rock River on the Stateline of WI and IL, in Beloit, WI. There is actually a bar & grill called "The Rock" and on Saturday nights this summer there is a guy who plays Jimmy Buffet songs and similar genre. Are there others in your group that are USVI Addicts? Hopefully there are others out there that will respond and we can get something together in August.

😎 Melissa

I live in the tristate area (IL,WI, IA) along the Mssissippi River, I'd be up for a meeting in Beloit, it's only about an hour or so away. We lost a friend from Beloit last year and haven't been back. His name was Ken Hendrick's, most people from Beloit knew of him. He also loved the islands and had a huge yacht called the "Dare to Dream" that was based out of Virgin Gorda that he would bring up the river a few times a year. Keep us posted as to when you would like to meet. My husband and I would be up for a day trip.

How exciting, we'll have to bring all of the island recipes to teach the barteder how to mix bushwackers, rum punch and painkillers.

Yes, Ken was a great philanthropist in our community! My husband and I always thought it would be so amazing to charter a yacht from here to there! Maybe someday!

We are thinking Saturday, August 29th. I will probably contact the restaurant early so they will have what we need on hand. Not too many places have pineapple or mango rum...especially Cruzan!

Let me know if this day works for you! We have had a couple of other people respond on another forum too and this looks like it will be a good day. It is pretty cool how many people there are in the surrounding area that share the love for the islands. Which island do you usually stay on?

Drema, we will be there the first part of December.

2beachbums,

We stay on STT where we also have a condo. Love to take day trips over to STJ also. We spent 3 months down there last year but unfortunately only went down for 4 days in January this year.

I just got off the phone with a friend that traveled to STT with us in January and she would like to go as well. We currently have a head count of 2 couples, I'll have to check in with our adult children and see if they would also like to join us. They have all spent time in the islands and they have some great stories to tell as well. I'll put the word out to a few more of our friends that have also been to the islands.

Looking forward to a great evening next month!

Molly

I'm hoping to be a USVI addict by the end of July at which time my sisters and I will l be able to come back with tons of stories and pictures to share. We are all located in NorthEast Wisconsin, actually very near Lambeau field! This is our first time to the USVI, so we are super excited.....So, maybe we'll meet up with some of you on your next meet!

Take care!!

Leaving in 3 days!!!

The date and time are good for us, most of our friends are Hawaii people but maybe I can convert a few. I keep showing them VI pictures, the "crowded "beaches, the few lonely people by the pool.
Re drink recipes, I have taken recipes with us to a bar and they do their best, Woody's web site has some good drink recipes. We co-host a large group in Aug and I'm going to take Pain Killers with me, I'll show those Mai Tai people! 2 years ago I made Bushwhackers and several people had trouble getting in their cars!!
We have a family place at Wonder Lake IL,10 miles from Lake Geneva, and have spent alot of time sitting in traffic on 51,just S of Rockford ,we get off and go thru Belvidere then back roads the rest of the way,any tips on avoiding the 51 nightmare?
Peoria, our home town is Bloomington and we have several friends in Peoria, is BIG AL'S still open? LIL

Do any of you come to Davenport for "The Bix"? That's my favorite weekend of the summer, its a 7k race combined with a Jazz fest ,runners and bands come from all over the world, usually someone from Kenya wins the race, there is a band from Australia and also in the line-up,a band from NOLA , just a great party!

Water Guy...come on down, I have been following your posts for a long time and told my husband I want a service like you had for your wife, those were some heart breaking posts, see, I feel like some of you are already friends. We have a cousin in Green Bay. It IS a small world and how incredible that we are all here at the same time!
A good topic to start the party,Stupid things we have heard people say when away from their cruise ship, sorry, but we just do not!!!want a schedule when we are there!!.......Donna

Glad you can make it! I will have to ask my husband about the Hwy 51info. Will you be coming from that way in August?

I will check Woody's website. Plus I know this forum has some if I do a search too. 🙂

I have never been to The Bix, when is that? We are always looking for somewhere to go for our anniversary weekend.

Have a great weekend!

Hi, google Bix 7 and Bix Beiderbeck but you need to make hotel plans ahead of time,it is always the last week end of July, the Jazz fest is on the river but there are always different types of music set up downtown and a few locations out side some of the bars. Sat night is the big party night, the run is over and the party starts for the runners....come on down

Hi all,

A little change of plans on our part. The big Jimmy Buffet concert is on the same date outside of Milwalkee. Our friends will be taking their RV to the concert. Jon and I still plan on taking the day trip up to Beloit.
