I will be visiting the VI in September. I want to stay at a place that is all-inclusive. I have been looking at The Wyndham Sugar Bay. I will be on my honeymoon, so I was looking at upgrading my room to a luxury ocean view. Can anyone tell me anything about The Wyndham Sugar Bay? Any and all info. will be helpful.

Hubby & I stayed there in Dec. '06 for 5 nights. Nice place! We only stayed there because his sister gave us her timeshare for 4 nights, then they offered us the last night free if we listened to their timeshare talk. Unfortunately we listened to the talk on the first morning & it ruined hubby's rest of his time there. Too pushy & made him feel like he didn't have a real good job for not buying into it! (He is in the snow plow business & it hasn't been a good winter here.....) And it was over 2hrs. of ......& after I said NO in more than one language, they finally let us go....not real happy with us.
We did not have the all inclusive....but I soon learned to make friends with those who did!! When they went to get a drink, they just brought me one back too! When we bought....it seemed very weak! We fast learned to buy a bottle at K-Mart & make our own!!

We did eat one day there for lunch....kinda expensive I thought! We felt there are way to many better places to eat out on St. Thomas to do all-inclusive!

The pool was EXTREMELY cold.....I'm talking I felt like I was a frozen daiquiris spending any time in there!!
The beach is very small & very rocky in most entry's. There was one spot that was OK to get into the water....then it was nice!

The rooms were VERY nice.....but we are not 5star people.....& our room unfortunately faced the pool area & very loud at night. It would have been nicer to have a room facing the ocean so I could have left the door open at night. The 1st night there we couldn't use the shower till later that night....they were having plumbing problems.

The staff is very nice & helpful! And the grounds are immaculate!! There is a shuttle to take you down the hill to the pool & parking area so you don't have to walk. But we enjoyed the walking. There is a nice walkway down to the pool with alot of steps...but we witnessed alot of drunks making the trip with no problem....well most of them!

Hope that helps....that was our experience....

We also stayed at WSB in Dec. 06, for 7 nights. We did the all-inclusive, which we thought would be best traveling with a toddler. We thought the food was better than at most all-inclusives, but it's not going to surpass what you could get if you choose to eat off-site. If you are going to eat at the hotel most days, definitely go with the all-inclusive. If you like to branch out and will spend most of your time away from the hotel, don't bother.

We had the deluxe ocean view room and the view was truly amazing! The room was not very luxurious -- nothing 5-star -- but nothing to really complain about. I wouldn't advise leaving the patio door open at night - the sand flies are brutal!

The pool was cold, but it was kind of refreshing and usually pretty empty. I went in with my two-year-old a few times, and we enjoyed it. The beach is nothing compared to what's available on the rest of St. Thomas and St. John, so you'll definitely want to go elsewhere for the beach experience.

We met a lot of couples there on their honeymoons, and several who actually got married at the hotel, and they all said they really enjoyed the experience.

The grounds are beautiful, the staff was very nice and friendly, and we recommend the hotel to anyone who asks us! The spa, also, was very nice. My husband got a massage and said that they had a lot of amenities (sauna, showers) that made it "man-friendly," unlike some spas.

I know not everyone has a great experience at this hotel, but for us, it was a wonderful, relaxing vacation!

BTW, we booked online through Wyndham (I think they use Expedia) and by my account saved about 30 percent over booking each item (hotel, car, airfare) separately. I suggest if you haven't bought already, price out the differences! May not be the same for everyone, but that's how it worked out for us!
