It is 8 days and counting for us! Live in Bethlehem, PA and it is also very cold and windy. We had a very tough 2009 so hopefully this vacation and the welcome of 2010 will be a good start! We're staying at our timeshare at Marriott's Frenchman's Cove.

VI Lover,

Glad to hear that you are making plans even if it isn't until next year. Just keep checking out the webcams and take a mini break daydreaming about the islands, It works for me.

galizy,

Have a great trip, how long will you be in town. If you want we can meet up for cocktails at Duffy's. We will be staying at our condo in Pineapple Village for a few nights before our renters move in then we are off to STJ for 3 nights.

We are also on the island from Jan 13-17. Staying at Sapphire. We have been there 3 x on a cruise ship
but never for more than a few hours. Looking forward some warmth ! Its cold here in Atlanta, Ga. Any recommendations
for while we are there. We are thinking of taking in the Baths. What are your thoughts?
Thanks,
Maybe we'll see you there. We are pretty open. Have not made any definite plans yet.

We are at 10 days and counting it down! All we need to do is get all these people back to their homes. We've had company since the Monday before Christmas. Then get the tree and all the decorations put away......wash all the sheets and reapply......clean up cookie crumbs......assemble the flea market stand of forgotten personal items we always find..........pack.......oh, wait! I forgot.....we have more company arriving this coming weekend. Thennnnnn.....we get on the plane the following Tuesday.

STT....here we come!!!!!!!!!!!!

gailzy - We are just north of you in the Poconos. I don't have to tell you what it looks and feels like up here right now. Brrrrrrrrrrrr....for everyone else it is 8 degrees with 30 mile and hour winds and snow.

We will be at Frenchman's Cove as well!

I need a long night at Iggie's!!!!!!! Maybe an afternoon. What the hell.........anything after 10:00 a.m. will work right now.

Thanks, East Ender. One thing about this wretched cold -- it really makes one appreciate those 80 degree temps.

I'll be there in 68 days and 6 hours, but who's counting. I also own at Frenchman's Cove. Can't wait to use the place(MFC). I'll be there for St Patricks Day week. The consensus seems to be to stop by Molly Malones on Paddy's day. Will it be overly crowded? Thinking of stopping by in the early afternoon. Any other good places to celebrate Paddy's day on St Thomas or St John?

Would any of you be willing to say what the cost of the Frenchman's cove timeshare is? even just a ballpark. I have heard about their 90 minute presentation that you need to make over 100k to sit in and listen. Is this true?

]dameiguana - What days will you be at the Cove??? We fly out of Newark, NJ, how about you? Philly or Newark?
speedr1023- I think our timeshare for the Cove was around $28K, without looking un my files. You can buy at a cheaper Marriott and then trade around. I don't know about making more than $100 K to sit in and listen. Not sure that was ever mentioned.
Good Luck!

Gailzy- less than 7 days! 🙂
p.s. it's 22 degrees and sunny today.

Brrrr, 20 below this morning! 9 days and counting, I hope this next week goes by really fast.

Not a big fan of timeshares so I'm not sure about the $100,000 rule. We renovated a place, then rented it to cover the expenses and kept the small studio for when we visit or to rent out by the week. All in all it's done pretty well even in this economy.

Ok so maybe we should actually start a post to see who will be on island when. We will be on STT 14-16th and then STJ 17-20th. Would be willing to meet on STT in Redhook for the STJ dates if everyone is staying on STT.

Can't wait!

Molly

gailzy - We are flying from Philly on the 13th. We are staying at Morning Star until we move over to the Cove on Saturday the 16th. We will be on the island until mid Feb. We have a lot of guests lined up, so we will be making several runs to STJ and repeat visits 'round STT.

I expect to have computer access. We could stay in touch via this site, and perhaps find each other down there.

speedr### - Your questions come with a lot of 'depends'. There are different time blocks.....summer weeks are less expensive than winter. Christmas and President's Day are the top of the line. I have no idea about how much $$ you need to hear the presentation......sounds weird to me. If someone can afford a week, who cares what they make. There's always resales as well. I have no idea how they are holding value right now.

IAMolly - 20 below!!!!!!!???!!! Dear, God! You won't thaw out until you hit STJ!!!!!!!!!

Gail,
Close, one state away. Iowa! It is expected to possibly get as cold as 30 below tonight with the wind chill. It's funny but when you don't get the cloud cover at night and the Arctic winds blow in it gets COLD. It's so cold that it's hard even to breathe when you go outside. Thank goodness for remote starts on vehicles.

Sapphire,
I hear that they have a new resturaunt in Red Hook called the "Big Bambooz" ever been there? We should put up a post and see who's in in town. Love to meet at the Toad and Tart and visit Anna but if we meet up on Sunday or Monday we will have to take the passenger ferry from STJ and would rather meet up in Red Hook and not have to take a Safari. I promise that my husband will behave this time. No sleeping on futons during dinner, lol. If I'm not mistaken you are from the Chicago area so you must be freezing as much as we are.

Molly, I think Anna is closed Monday thru Wednesday. We were wondering about Molly Malone's. Never been there....is it still open? What else is good in Red Hook?

Molly Malone's is excellent, I have yet to have a bad meal anywhere in Red Hook. Molly's is still open and has one of the best menu's around. They also have fresh fruit on your table that they will serve your drinks in, very nice.
