I am looking at renting a villa looking onto Great Cruz Bay...questions are.......
1. Are the roads from that area easy to maneuver to get to the North Shore beaches, etc.. and
2. Is there any major construction in that area?
Thanks for any info........
ps...Looking at Villa Bijou if anyone has any info..

That looks soo beautiful. I just wish I was there now. I will be driving everyone at work crazy until we leave. That is ALL I talk about. I put the picture of Maria Villa that Tomb posted on my desktop and everyone that comes into the office I stop them to show off. (Yes, everyone hates me right now because I'm going. I keep telling them we've planned this for a year and you only turn 50 once!) But the kicker is it was 29 degrees this morning and I can't wait to get to the warmth of the USVI.

Nice photo TomB! We stayed at Morgan Point last May/June, which is just across the street (up the hill a little) from Villa Maria. Awesome views from there and that area was very quiet! There was some construction down near the water as you first turn onto GCB Road, but we never heard anything more than an occasional hammer and saw. We were up and out on the beach most days... We actually heard more noise from the Westin than from construction (leaf blowers, sand sweepers, music, etc.).

The drive from Cruz Bay to Great Cruz bay Road is short and not bad at all. You do have to go over Jacob's Ladder, which isn't bad... unless its raining and someone without 4-wheel drive is in front of you. That happened to us one day and it was sort of funny. Like a snowy day here in East Tennessee, where everyone lines up and waits at the bottom of the hill for the guy at the front of the line to make it over before the next guy tries it. You can also avoid town and go over Gifft Hill Road, if you're heading to the Coral Bay side.

We loved this area!

We are 15 days and 20 hours from take-off!! (But who's counting? :@) ) I look at the Spice Cam ALL the time. Different people at work will come into the office and ask "What's the temp? How many more days? Are you coming back?" I always show them my countdown widget, the Spice Cam and my desk top picture (the one TomB sent of Villa Maria) If I was independently weathy, I would stay forever. I haven't started packing other than mentally. I would drive the whole house crazy and would end up taking way more than I need. I will save that for the weekend before we leave. We don't have any set plans other than a nice dinner with a view on Monday the 23rd. Every other day is up for grabs. We are going to be in paradise and I am taking the Island frame of mind. Don't get in a hurry and what happens, happens. Can't wait and will most certainly post a report when we return.
Sandra
