I'll be flying out of Ft. Lauderdale on Wednesday and arriving in St. Thomas. Do I need to be to the airport here 2 or 3 hours early? I know Int'l flights are 3 hours and Domestic is 2 hours but wasn't quite sure if this falls in the middle sorta. Make sense? Thanks!

Get your boarding passes before you get to the airport. This saves time. Then all you have to do is go through security.

I still make sure I get to the airport 2 hours ahead of time, just in case.

Enjoy!!

We usually get there 1.5 hour in advance of the flight. We always carry passports for ID (though not required if you're only going to USVI....I know, I know) and print our boarding passes and check in online the evening prior to the flight. If anything is going to slow you down it will be getting through security. The flight from FTL to STT is great! If you've got the 6:00 a.m. flight - I agree it's brutal getting up early in the wee hours of the morning but just keep chanting "I can sleep on the plane" and even if you're one of those who cannot sleep on the plane, you will arrive in STT and have the whole day ahead of you in paradise!

Thanks for all the info! I flew over there this time last year but couldn't remember how early I arrived at the airport last time. I always take my passport too, I guess somehow I figure it will just help speed up the process maybe, ya never know. I'm on the 12:25pm flight out - arriving STT at 4:05pm. Getting very excited now!! Staying on a beautiful 85' Yacht at Yacht Haven Grande Marina! Last year we were at Crown Bay, I'm very excited to see the new and improved Yacht Haven!!

It's a 3 hour flight from FLL so maybe 4 hours from ATL, that's just a guess though.

Hi everyone,

I'm new to the message board and will be traveling from DFW to SJU and then on to STT. Do you need a passport from SJU to STT?
This is our first time to STT, 6 adults and a baby! We can't wait to get there, I've loved reading all the messages on this board!

Puerto Rico is part of the US like the USVIs so the same rules apply. You don't need a passport, but having one makes things a little easier.

Tropix3,
The new Yacht Haven Grande is wonderful! You won't be disappointed! 🙂

Tho I realize you are asking about departing the states, I thought we should cover departure of STT as well!
On departure, make sure you are at STT airport 2 full hours in advance! Since planes arrive and depart close to the same times! The security line CAN get very long! Allow for the time! 🙂

Stt. is easy, drop off your bags, park the car up at the top, return your keys and get on line through security. It is usually pretty fast. I'd give myself 2 hours at the most. 1 1/2 is plenty.

Take care

Flip flops are great.
