I'm leaving for St. Thomas Saturday and I don't drink anymore. While I have no problem with bars or being around drinkers, I don't want to be sitting in a bar night after night watching everyone else get wasted. Does anyone have any suggestions for fun, unique evening/night activities where drinking isn't the only thing going on. My travel buddy and I are both in our mid/late 20's, with no children.

I can't speak for STT, but here on STX drinking is not the only activity at our bars/restaurants. We have a very rich music scene here. It is not unusual for us to go out for dinner or to a bar specifically to here a performer/group. We visit with other partons and listen to the music. Ric has a beer or two, I usually stick to iced tea. Check the paper when you get to STT or ask at your hotel whose performing around island, I think you will be pleasantly surprised.

On STX there are very few "tourist" activities that happen at night and do not occur at a bar/club/restuarant. On STT check what's going on at Rheinhold theater.

C,

We are leaving in a few weeks and been doing a lot of research. I do remember a nightime snorkling trip you can attend. I believe it's called Homer's night time snorkling. We are going to look into it, it's out of Hull Bay on the north side. I forget the website address.

There is also the evening / sunset cruises, and the submarine, but I am not sure if it runs just in the day, or at night also.

Good luck !

Here is the web site for the night snorkel:

http://nightsnorkel.com/nightsnorkel.html

Also, here is a web site that contains information about what is happening on the island. I used the section about what kind of music and bands were playing where and when (I also was looking for Karaoke). It has lots of useful information. This gets updated every month but here is April's issue of "St. Thomas-St. John This Week":

You have to do the night snorkel! I wish I'd known about it when we were there.

I don't know exactly what kind of stuff you're looking to do. I mean, I don't know what kind of stuff you normally do. Anyways, a couple of ideas. There is a movie theatre in st thomas. It's really cold, freezing really, so bring a sweater. (I'm NOT kidding!) I've heard there are bowling lanes, but I've never actually been there, so maybe it's a rumor. Anyone know? Also, pastory gardens in st john has a great mini golf course. It's alot of fun, eighteen holes. Theres also debbie does karaoke night on thursdays at the fish trap in saint john. Pool tables at the pour your own in either red hook or cruz bay, if you don't mind being around drinkers. The gecko gazebo has an open mic night every wednesday. And hey, don't forget to go for a night swim! You can see some crazy phosphorescence! And if there is a full moon, hike out to rams head for a great view. Hope this helped!

The mocko jumbies is something else I wished we'd seen when we were there. 😉

You are so welcome C1978. I had such a wonderful time on the islands and we did go sing Karaoke at Iggie's Beach Bar at Bolongo bay. This was a great time. However, I am not sure how fun it would have been if I had to do it sober?! Anyway, one of the greatest things we did was to ride back on the car ferry from St. John's on the last ride out. The sky was lit up with stars and Red Hook was lit up with lights. It was beautiful. We sat up on the roll bar to our Jeep, made a cocktail from our own stash and gazed upon it all. Lots of fun. Good luck to you. This place is amazing. Even if you choose to do nothing but watch the waves come in you will have a great time.

Bolongo Bay's caribbean night is fun. You don't have to do the buffet, Lots of entertainment. If there are any sports events going on, the Sprots Bar in Red Hook is lively, but we were there duting football season. e hung out at Bolongo most nights, familes eating dinner etc,. Not a bunch of drunks..it is right on the beach

The Greenhouse has an assortment of things going on each night. Might want to call them to see what's scheduled. If you just want to take it easy and play some pool or air hockey, Shipwreck Tavern has that as well as what I think is the best burger on the island.
