Has anyone ever stayed at the Beach Estate on St John? Will be there in Oct. It looks lovely.
Does anyone know if we should rent a car on St Thomas, or St John?
Are groceries really that much more expensive on St. John, as compared to St. Thomas?

The Beach Estate is indeed beautiful, you'll love it. Great view, great pool, your own private beach, interesting decor, all the stuff that makes staying at a villa so nice. Regarding cars and groceries, I'm a "path of least resistance" kind of guy when I'm on vacation, so I'd recommend renting on St. John (and not having to deal with the STT traffic or the car ferry), and buying groceries at Dolphin or Starfish on St. John as well. If your budget can handle Beach Estate, the few cents you'll save trying to purchase groceries on St. Thomas and haul them over to St. John won't be worth the trouble.

Have fun!
