Any suggestions on places to stay in St. Croix? (or St Thomas

I am a 25 year old single female and I am planning on moving to VI this fall, so I am visiting each island briefly next week. (Still don't have place to stay... is that bad?)

I am looking for a safe, friendly place - that will allow me to meet locals and really let me start to get to know the island - the people, the culture.

I have looked at Cottages by the Sea and the Cane Bay Reef Club. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

On STX, both Cottages and the Cane Bay Reef Club are good choices for such a visit. Another is Waves of Cane Bay. Have you called any place yet to see about availabliity? I'm afraid you might be disappointed. The island is pretty full right now and most places don't have vacancies.
