Tennessee:

It would help if we knew where you're staying and what your interests are.

You can start off by clicking on "St Thomas" under the photo top of this page to get an overview of everything there is to do here to see what appeals to you. Happy researching!

All of the top places that I found on island are located on the attached Google Map...check it out, maybe it will help you find some points of interest. There are photos and links embedded in the map too...no commercials or anything like that.

Okay, I would say:
1. Island tour in a rent car- stop at several beaches/beach bars along the way and enjoy!
2. A sailboat/snorkeling trip- can be arranged through the hotel, pick up and drop off at the dock at the Reef.
3. A day to totally unwind either at the beach or the pool at the Reef- read a book, sip a rum punch at the swim-up bar, apply more sunscreen...
4. Eat out- don't just eat at the Reef night after night.
5. Take the Reefer ferry downtown for some shopping and a nice lunch.
6. Go to Coral World and learn about the flora and fauna of the sea nearby.
7. Go snorkeling.
8. Go parasailing, kiteboarding, kayaking or other watersports if you have a yen.

I do not know what sort of vacationer you are. Some people are content to unplug from their busy "real" lives and need nothing besides a Kindle and a lounge chair. Others seem to be afraid they will miss something. If you are the latter, I would add one of the following:
9. A day on St John
10. A day trip to the BVI

Five days is not a long trip. You can always save a few things for your next visit!;)

East Ender gave you some great ideas.

Dining:

1. Toad & Tart - Nice local place - Smith Bay Road (East End)
2. Agave - Gourmet - Point Pleasant Resort - (East End)
3. Molly Malone's - Good Irish Bar/Food - Red Hook
4. Caribbean Saloon - Ribs & Steak - Red Hook
5. Latitude 18 - Good locals place - (You'll need to get directions)
6. Iggies - Get the crab legs - (Bolongo Bay Resort)
7. Mims - Shrimp night - (Next to Iggies)

Have a great time!

The area on the Western side of STT Harbor is known as Frenchtown -- excellent restaurants in a friendly walking atmosphere.

Tenn: Go down and buy yourself an iPhone. AT&T works great here! 😉

I know everyone in the states is all hepped up on Verizon, but it isn't a good solution here. There is a Radio Shack on the way to the Reef from the airport. The cruiseship crew are always in there for cell phones and such.
