Back to this topic, but I've decided that the way to go is the direct taxi route, rather than the day-trip/snorkeling/party-boat sailing type of excursion. I've been in touch with Dolphin Water Taxi who take passengers direct to JVD and bring them back with no snorkeling stops, so it's more like 4-5 hours at JVD rather than 90 minutes or so on White Bay like most. Dophin will go any day of the week but need 4 people minimum to make the trip. Since I really want to maximize my time on JVD, I'm much more interested in this option than in the excursions. However, they have no bookings for any day that week except Friday, when I was hoping to be in CA for children's parade.

So - anyone around that week who might want to join me and help boost the numbers so we can schedule a trip to JVD earlier in the week?

If so, please do let me know!

Thanks.

Mark

Mark, somebody's been advertising daily trips to JVD in the local paper - $99 per person, and leaves Red Hook daily at 9 a.m. Phone 340-513-0713 for details.

Remember you can take the public ferry - $70.00 pp including Customs (but only 5 days per week) Leaves STT at 8am, STJ at 8:30am and leaves Jost at 3pm

Thanks Pia - I have been considering that, but people seem to have erratic experiences on the timing of the departures. Island time is a perk of the islands - mostly, but i'd just soon as not spend 45 minutes standing on the dock if it's one of those days... any thoughts?

And thanks ms411, I will look into it - but not looking for a daysail if that is what it really is...
