I'm headed back to STT in January. I have always rented a car, but am thinking that it might be good to try the Vitran buses. I'll be staying at Blue Beards. Does the bus run from this area (probably in down town CA) to Coki Beach? Thanks.

Rent a car. Buses are very unreliable and you'll spend more time waiting for one than you'll want.
Plus you'll be able to come and go as you please with your own car, when you please without worrying that you have missed the bus. Our public transportation is not like that stateside, where things actually run on a schedule that you can depend upon.

Thanks, but I don't mind waiting and there are always plenty of safari taxis to fall back on. I have driven around so many times in the last few years, but really just go back to the same beach, grocery store and a couple of favorite restaurants. I totally understand that nothing runs on STT like it does back in the states. I was just interested in info on the basic routes.

You are more likely to catch a dollar ride first, than a bus. If you are lucky enough that you catch a public bus, they have A/C. For the bus, have exact change. Don't wait on a bus, if a dollar ride pulls up first, take that. Enjoy your vacation.
