I'm trying to find a land tour of St. Thomas. One I found is already booked, another won't answer me back and the others I'm finding concentrate more on shopping. I'm wanting to go to skyline, Drakes seat, Mountain top and Magens Bay and whatever in between. Thanks for the help!

May be best to rent a car or hire a taxi to do the tours you wish.

I'm guessing you're coming in for just one day on a cruise? If you don't want to book something through the cruise line there will be a slew of taxis waiting dockside when you disembark and you'll have no problem at all finding a driver happy to give you the tour you want. If you go to "St Thomas" top of this page, scroll down to "transportation" and "taxis", you'll find the basic private tour rates at the bottom of the page and can negotiate with a driver from there. Have fun!

Nope not a cruise. Staying the 26th-30th at Best Western. The 28th we have a boat tour booked to the BVI's and I was wanting to have a "chill" day on the 29th. That's why I was wanting to get the 27th but the one place I contacted was booked all the way thru the 2nd week in January so the 29th wouldn't have worked anyways.

So the taxi drivers don't mind taking you here, there and just waiting while we take pics? That might be what we will have to do.
Thank you!

Some will, some won't as they'd obviously prefer a full vanload of people.
You won't get everyone falling over their feet to take a couple people here and there.
You can ask you hotel to set it up, possibly call taxi commission to inquire or check out the links STT Resident gave you. Good luck.

As Alana said, check the links I suggested. The tour rates are based on the number of people participating and, once you see the baseline, you can negotiate from there depending on what they offer generally and your specifics.

We were in STT in March. An island tour of STT ran us $25 each, we saw the places you mentioned, but didn't go to the beach for any length of time. We went back the next day, took a cab to Trunk, hung out a few hours, then cabbed back to Cruz Bay.

The Paradise Point Tramway in Havensight opposite the WICO cruise ship terminal. Currently undergoing renovations it's scheduled to reopen end of this month.

Like Alana said I would definitely rent a car or jeep. You could walk over to the airport around 9 or 10 a.m. to pick it up and even Budget would have cars because it is before many of the flights arrive and there is literally no one in the airport. We have done this before on a short 3 day stay on STT and fit in a ton of things, way more than with the tour, plus if there are 4 people in your group and you consider how much you can do in a day the cost turns out cheaper.

We went to Magens, the Great House, Mountain Top, Smith Bay Park, ate at Red Hook, a quick stop at I think it's called Tillet Gardens(?), and strolled around Yacht Haven Grande for a while. We are not shoppers either but it was cool to grab a drink and walk around Yacht Haven and soak in the views. Oh, and we stopped at the beach by the college for a while first, I think Brewers. It's not far from the Best Westerns at all. I know we did a couple of other things too, like stopped at Drakes, but just saying we fit in so much stuff and we did not rush at all it was almost a perfect day.

Depending on the size of your group, the taxi at Best Western can give you an island tour for a good price per person. There are many good taxi tours that aren't well publicized so you should be fine with whatever driver you choose.

If you happen to be downtown, there are many taxis by Vendor's Plaza that are looking for tourists to take on an island tour.
Confirm the rate before getting in the taxi, but the rates should be as follows:

Sightseeing Tours by Taxi

Tour 1 (2 hours)
One Passenger...$50.00
Two or More Passengers...$25.00/each

Tour 2 (3 hours)
One Passenger...$60.00
Two or More Passengers...$30.00/each

Also, confirm the attractions/itinerary with the taxi driver, so you know exactly where you will be going and you will like that tour.

Enjoy your vacation!
