Depends what you're looking for and you should know your prices before you shop. I live here and just bought a nice little Nikon Coolpix L18 from Office Max for $117 and am happy with the price which I had already checked online. No sales tax, no shipping costs, bingo! There are loads available and Boolchands usually has some of the best deals. Cheers!

I would buy it at home. You should be able to get some real good deals now. If something goes wrong at least you have the local supplier. I will say that you could call Boochands and ask the price before hand.

Liquid Image sells goggles with the camera built in. I will be down next month to try it out. I have a friend on island that has one and loves it. I also own an Olympus underwater camera that I love. The pictures in and out of the water are great, I bought mine at Boolchands. I think that I'ts the 370SW, I don't have it with me right now. I did notice later that they sell it at our local Sam's Club for about the same price, if I have to replace it I think that I would buy local.

TomB I'll let you know how my Nikon works out as time goes by. This particular model was manufactured in 2008 and I chose it based on internet reviews and its basic simplicity which appealed to such a technologically challenged old broad such as I!

I do recommend Boolchand's however, because they've been in business for as long as I can remember and have always offered great savings over stateside prices. As far as guarantees are concerned, doesn't that fall on the manufacturer rather than the store itself? In that case the main issue would be the price and also taking into account that we don't have sales tax here.

As I said, have an idea of what you want and then shop wisely whether it be for jewelry, cameras or any other luxury items. Cheers!

I've bought several cameras from Royal Caribbean. The prices were usually a little below list and they sweetened each deal by throwing in freebies like cases, memory cards. They also have the newest cameras on the market. They will have cameras that won't hit the US for another 6 months. I've bought lenses for 35mm slr's and never had a complain about anything.

I will second what Bassman says. We have purchased 3 cameras from Boolchands. No sales tax and always comparable or lower price than the states. They always throw something in, such as a case or great price on SD card.
