Is there any store on STT that claims to sell conflict-free diamonds? Has anyone bought or tried to buy a conflict-free diamond and how did you find one?

Gee, I wonder who that Tart is in the sailing photo! From the back, she looks awfully familiar..... 😉

PS...Geoff and I got our ASA certifications last weekend. We can now jibe with the rest of you seafarers! Jibe Ho!

The picture started my day off right.
Since you are talking about sailing, are there businesses that do ASA certifications in St. John?
I have been thinking of moving there for some time now, but am here in So, Cal. trying to get
my screenplays sold, so don't want to stop the process of that happening.
Once I'm down there, getting a certification is one of my goals as, it is with my two sons in the
military. Keeping the interest going in the family.
Oldest son will probably learn while he's on Okinawa.

I'm not a diamond girlie, I might add. More turquoise and silver. Was a cowgirlie for too many years in
Colorado, I guess.

So many screen writers living around me. So many producers giving rejection slips.

Good luck.

There have always been tons of actors, actresses, directors, producers, writers, film crews
etc., etc., etc. in L.A., I grew up here, remember??
If I was afraid of rejection slips, I wouldn't do it. One man's junk is another man's treasure.
Lots of tastes, lots of genres. I'm a certified Script Supervisor and could work on a crew if I
wanted. I prefer to write screenplays, and paint pictures.
I keep remembering how many rejection slips the most famous screenwriters got thrown at them.
Your success in life comes from doing what you love.

And, luck helps, too! Thanks.

And one of the reasons we have some of the greatest wait staff out here. I remember reading a statistic that 5 pct of the SAG actors are getting 95pct of the work.

Anyway don't want to hijack the thread.

PS what high school did you go to........Hami Hi here, LOL But I may be old enough to be your father.

Yeah, but the free meal and folks forking over about 20 pct for tips make waiting tables a snap. Dang it we actually might be neighbors. I'm in the barrio of VN.. Give a shout out if you know a good torta place. I got a good one I go to but always looking for good Mexican food.

And it doesn't look like I could be your father. But certainly old enough to be an older brother.

Okay we'll take it to a room later, k!!!!!

Dream,

Our school, NJ School of Sailing, offers certs in the BVIs. Would have been more fun than the intracoastal waterway - Barnegat Bay, where we certified.

Blu,
Do you love him? Does it really matter what you wear on your finger right now?

Seriously...don't make the ring the thing. I lost my ring 1 week after we were married on the Boulder Creek in a white water boat that we never should have been on. We've been married 30 years and the ring has upgraded 5 times since. Go cheap and upgrade!!!

Thanks EL. Geoff has already lost his Tibetan ring from St John. It slipped off of his finger when he was folding the jib last week after we docked our training sailboat- bounced off the deck and into the river. He's sad.

I am not so much into the ring. Just wanted to avoid "conflict" and wasn't sure how.

EL

"Go cheap and upgrade" LMAO

The last time I heard someone use that phrase concerning wedding/engagement rings was on a cross country flight. She was explaining the history behind the mega rock currently residing on her finger. Of course, her idea of 'upgrade' envolved 7 husbands. How many marriages does it take before you call it professional dating anyway?

The best part was after hearing her talk about hubbies 1-7 for over 45 minutes, she went on to discuss her son who was going to be married in 6 months but she was concerned. Apparently she doesn't think he is taking that step seriously enough.

Go figure

I've never heard the "cheap" part before the upgrade but do know that some stores offer "trade-in's" and will buy back the stone if you are upgrading and give you credit if you bought the original stone from them.
Just think, guys like Larry King who is in marriage #7 have probably kept many jewelers in business and he probably figured he'd not only upgrade the wife but the riing too with each one! lol

Well,
Not to make this too depressing but, they use cyanide to help extract gold from rock.
That is after they dig huge horrid holes in the earth, and dump the waste water filled with cyanide into
huge tailings. Not at all environmentally conflict-free.

Just a little tid-bit to start your day.

CShell

She didn't trade the older stones in. She had them mounted into a bracelet. I guess it was her traveling trophy case.
