Was reading Blu's report on the dock at White Bay and brought to mind what I heard in Oct about a marina being proposed for Coral Bay. Has anyone heard any more about this? I heard both pros and cons around the bar at Aqua Bistro but general consensus seemed to be it might be a good thing. Just wondered if someone had more recent information.

We were just talking about this last night while eating dinner with our hosts at Shipwreck Landing! I can't remember gaving a sadder conversation. They told us that there had been two different proposals on the table for the marina. The first, and seemingly best for our hosts, was simply just a marina, and land for the site was to be purchased from the Moravian church. But then the church hemmed and hawed, and while they did, another deal appeared and is now moving forward. This plan includes the marina, some condos and a small hotel. What a change for Coral Bay.....and for a lot of tourists like ourselves, who'll now have to stay out on the East End to avoid bustling modern life.

This reminds me of a story that we heard about Jost - soon to have 4-wheeler trails on the island??????? Or maybe they do already.....

Jost has had 4 wheelers for awhile. The newest thing is they are supposed to get a dock at White Bay.

Boy, we're sure not right on top of this subject at my house! So, have you stayed on Jost recently? Is there 4-wheeler noise and/or damage?

The 4 wheelers start from the far west end of White Bay, and you will see them all around- in front of Foxy's, by Taboo, etc. I don't think they are allowed to drive on the beach, but I don't know.

Hey, eastender, we're staying in Coral Bay right now. Do you know anyone here who rents dinghies besides Crabby's? We were extremely disappointed to see that all of his dinghy motors are out for repairs. And no, we don't want to rent from Noah's, or from anyone else in the Cruz Bay area. Thanks!

Checkout Calypso, they have dinghys with seats and wheel steering. Though I have never used theirs. http://www.calypsovi.com/dinghy.html

All of the others (Noah's and Calypso) are in Cruz Bay - Crabby's is the only rental on the Coral Bay side.

Skillians: Glad Pia could help you as there are no dinghy rentals on the east end of my island! 😉 Well, except for the Rubber Ducky cruise ship excursion...

Pia and EastEnder, thanks so much, you've confirmed what we were afraid of, no other dinghies on the far end of the island. I wish that someone would pick up on this. (Is it true that Crabby is selling?) Also, wish someone rented sit-in kayaks and not just sit-on-tops. Wish I was a little older and a little richer - it would be great to run a business that let people kayak Coral Bay/Haulover area in real kayaks. Anyone out there want to start a business? We would be your biggest customers.......
