Hi all! 8 days until we leave for STT and trying to figure out a plan for a VERY SHORT hike in STJ that is:

1) Short and easy. First and foremost. I quickly turn into "Cujo mom" when I'm hot and there's no water in sight. I have passed that gene onto my children, 9 y.o. girl and 10 y.o. boy, who will also be in tow.

2) We'd like to see a sugar mill ruin/plantation.

3) Back to reason 1, ideally close to a beach so we won't have to take another taxi to get there.

4) Not too incredibly far from Cruz Bay as we'll be doing the ferry/taxi thing.

I have heard much of both Annaberg and Cinnamon trails, but I'd like advice on which one (or others) you may suggest based on the above. THANKS!!

We only went to Annaberg, and it was easy IMO. And right near the water, too, so we hiked first, then got in the water. I wish we coule have done Cinnamon too. I'm sure someone here has and can answer for ya! 🙂

LLBL: Don't discount the Reef Bay guided tour with the park rangers. It is all down hill, in the shade, has an old plantation AND you get to stop and see the petroglyphs. And a boat takes you back to Cruz Bay, so you get a little island tour. Very educational for the children, also! Call the Visitor's Center to book at 340-776-6201

Ooo! I wanted to see the petroglyphs, but we didn't have time. I bet they are awesome.

I second East Ender, look into Reef Bay hike. It does take longer than the one you imply in your post ("Short and easy.") but it is reasonable and not a hassle when done with the Parks Department.

If you are limited in time and want the most for minimal effort, then Annaberg is best. Make sure you arrange with the taxi to return at agreed time or hang around depending on how much time you need and how much $$ you want to spend. It is sometimes a "wait and see" on taxis arriving to Annaberg.

Thanks all! I will look into these as options and let hubby pick which one. I've done my share of the planning and don't want to monopolize our time!
