Does anyone know if a lot of places accept american express? Just wondering!

Just like everywhere else in the world...accepted in lots of places but not as well as Visa or MC.

As Chris said some do but more & more don't since they really ramped up their charges to the merchants.

I don't think I ran into a business or a restaurant on either STJ or STX that didn't accept AmExp. However, I would carry either a Visa or a MC just in case. Discover does not seem to be accepted much however.
