I have seen some lovely photos & nice comments about St. Croix on this board. I've been to STT, STJ and througout the BVI but never to STX. For the most part I have heard not so favorable comments about St. Croix and I know that cruiseships stopped going there several years ago because of problems. I am just curious about other people's experiences. I'm asking because I don't want to rely on hearsay/rumors - I do want to visit & try it for myself sometime soon. Thanks everyone

As you can guess by my name I love STX. Alas, beauty is in the eye of the beholder so all I can say is try STX and see what you think. We are going back to STX in 10 days for the 12th visit. Have been to lots of other islands but STX is by far our favorite. STJ is a close 2nd but it has changed quite a bit since our first visit back in the early '90's. Not to mention how expensive it has become. It would be difficult to tempt me to go back to STT. Way too crowded and hectic for me. P.Rico is not my cup of tea. Not bad but not STX. St.Martin is very nice, but in a different sense than STX. I could list all of the other places we have gone but I think the best illustration of beauty being in the eye of the beholder is this one. We have been to STJ 3 times and enjoyed every trip. We last went about 3 years ago and met up with my oldest son and his wife. My daughter in law's brother came along with them for a few days. Both he and his honey were not crazy about STJ. They much preferred going to Ocean City,Md. They are in their mid twenties and for whatever reason did not like STJ. That is incomprehensible to me. Go figure.......
