We have made numerous trips to STT and had done 3 cruises in the past that had stopped at Havensight. Last week we did a cruise with Princess that stopped in STT but at Crown Bay.
I knew that there were some shops at Crown Bay, etc. but we were really unimpressed by what was there. Havensight has numerous stores plus the tram across the street. You can even walk to C.A. if you feel like it but we wouldn't attempt it from Crown Bay.
Our plan had been to shop and just walk around, since we have done most of what they listed as shore excursions. As a result, we felt the stop at Crown Bay was a wasted day on our itinerary.

Stay home and go to Walmart.

The walk to Charlotte Amalie from Crown Bay is flat - sidewalk and the same distance or shorter than from Havensite -- not as pretty though in comparison. The taxi ride is $3 pp - same as from the other dock.

havensite has had 20 + years to develop and gets much more ship traffic - Crown Bay is still developing.
I don't understand why it would be a wasted day -- all of St Thomas is just as accessable - Water Island is just across the channel - Beaches like Lindberg Bay - Emerald Beach and Brewers Bay are close and even walkable - much closer and easier than the beach access at Havensite.
The Island tours go right up Crown Mt. Road and avoid traffic all together and show their passengers a much less developed side of STT along the way.
If your plan was to walk around and shop - just walk downtown and shop - or take a taxi both ways for small money in comparison to the cost of a weeks cruise .
