Okay, hold on...The Palms at Pelican Cove is on St Croix as I believe is Hibiscus, because I have never heard of a place like that on St Thomas. You say you want hotel/resort accomodations- meaning room service, turn down with chocolates, etc.?

Crystal Cove, for example, is a lovely condominium community on a beach. No restaurant, etc. on property. However, you would have a kitchen so you could fix meals in if you wished.

Can you give us a better idea of what your requirements are, besides beachfront?

Palms and Hibiscus are both on STX. Neither is 4 star, but they are good choices, right on the beach and I think you get value for your $$ at either place.

Sorry!
OK, We were thinking around $200 a night, beachfront, around restaurants, near maybe a market, some place where we can engage in activities on the resort like scuba diving, snorkling, jet skis, etc. This is our honeymoon and we just want a great time! I think most of my negativity has come from me reading on sites that have nothing but negative advice. I JUST NEED SOME HELPFUL, HONEST ADVICE about where to stay and I think we could figure out the rest. Thanks in advance!

Crystal Cove is on beautiful Sapphire Beach. As mentioned on your other thread, you could take a look at Sapphire and Crystal Cove condo listings on www.vrbo.com. Sapphire is gorgeous and the snorkeling there is very good while it's only a short drive to Red Hook and markets and restaurants, etc.

Okay, that is better!:D

If you want a hotel- the Reef would suit you. They have basically all the activities you are thinking about. Also great views as the cruise ships come in and out of the harbor. It is not within walking distance of anything, but the Reefer (water taxi) helps. Five (?) restaurants, but you can always take a cab or drive to more.

If you want a condo with fewer resort amenities, look at Sapphire, Crystal Cove, Secret Harbour, and even some of the time shares like Elysian, Bluebeard's Beach. None of these will have *everything* you want, but you ARE going to need to compromise.

The Trip Advisor posters seem to be agenda-driven. Some little thing went wrong during their trip so they are going to bash everything they can. It is similar to posters who say, "I would never go there." (Hear me, Rose??) Relax and look at your choices, pick one and don't second-guess yourself! It is your honeymoon and you WILL have fun! That is an order!! :X

I would stay at Crystal Cove! We live here and we love it! Everyday we walk out our door and a few steps and our toes are in the sand! Crystal Cove is the best place to stay! The units are very nice. There are tons of places nearby if you want to eat out or go food shopping. There is a great coffee shop the road called Picaso's Coffee Bar where you can grab a nice morning coffee and some pastries and sit on your balcony at Crystal Cove.

Crystal Cove is located on Sapphire Beach so it has the best snorkeling on the island besides Coki Beach. You can rent jet skis from the guys over at Sapphire Marina just a few steps away.

I would stay here because its the best place to stay on the island!

home girl: Not sure what your connection with the coffee-VLT bar is, but I notice that that is one of your faves. But, I do agree that Crystal Cove is a great property, *if* it meets the visitor's needs.

We stayed at Hibiscus a year or so ago, maybe 2 years. The hotel is ok the restaurant is nothing special and although the beach has nice sand the bottom in the water is very rocky. STX is very quiet for those who want to relax. If I was young and on my honeymoon I' pick STT. Lots more to do. Fun bars in Red Hook
We honeymooned in P-town before it was totally gay. Would have loved to have been able to afford STT.

Me and my husband stayed at the Palms at Pelican Bay a few years ago. The owners are wonderful and do everything within their power to make your stay enjoyable. We loved our room - I think they all face the water, our room was spotless and their on site restaurant was incredible. We would stay again in a heartbeat! There is also another fine dining restaurant within walking distance...just cant remember the name. The water was a bit rough for my liking, but we would still stay there again.

Enjoy your trip!!! Wish I could stow away in your luggage.

Jen

Every year for the past 10 years my husband and I have travelled to St Thomas and stayed at Crystal Cove.
Over the years we have never had any real issues and have always met wonderful, friendly people.
The only negative thing for us was the closing of the restaurant, bar and store several years ago.
However, that still doesn't keep us away.
