hi all!! i'll be staying on STJ in June and have a question about the ferry service. i have looked at the ferry schedules but have read about the schedules changing for the offseason. does anyone know if the ferry from CA to STJ scheduled for 3pm still runs in June? i land at 2pm and am trying to figure out if i should take the red hook ferry or the charlotte amalie ferry. i have to pick up a rental car by 5pm on STJ (St John Car Rental). thanks in advance for any advice.

The ferry runs pretty reliably but nobody can predict whether the 3pm will run on the day you arrive in June. If you land at 2pm you probably can't make the 3pm anyway. When you leave baggage claim you can ask the taxi monitor for a taxi to take you to the ferry leaving soonest. If you let your rental car agency know you may not be there by 5pm they will leave the rental vehicle and keys for your late arrival and you can return the next day to complete the paperwork.

Even if you have to take the 4pm from Red Hook you will still be able to get your rental car by 5pm. The Red Hook to STJ is only a 20 minute ride.

Yeah, STJ Car Rental is a short, straight walk from the ferry dock, and easy to find.

No guarantees, but I think June is a safe bet to say that the CA boat will be running full schedule, but even if you have just carry-on, you have to wait until your taxi van is full before it leaves. The drivers won't lose their place in line for a short trip like that.
